Direct Care Worker

Essential Job Functions :

• Planning and preparing meals according to specific dietary requirements of the individual, and if necessary, feeding the client.
• Assisting and/or performing personal care including hair care, skin care, oral hygiene, bathing, grooming, and dressing.
• Assisting with transfer and ambulation.
• Assisting with routine bodily functions: Example, toileting.
• Maintaining a safe, clean and healthy environment through light housekeeping including incidental household cleaning and laundry.
• Administer first aid to individuals and report treatment to Administrative staff; maintain current certification in CPR and first aid.
• Drive/accompany individuals to leisure activities, social events, and other activities and events to include doctor’s appointment, shopping, and using public transportation; assist individuals with planning/ scheduling activities.
• Assistance with accompaniment, coaching and minor problem solving necessary to achieve the objectives of increased independence, productivity and inclusion in the community.
• Document unusual incidents as per agency policies and procedures.
• Other duties related to the supports required by the individual.

Knowledge, Skill(s), and Abilities:

• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work with others
• Ability to follow the plan of care with minimal supervision

Requirements:

• Must be 18 years old or older
• HS Education/ GED
• Must have a valid Driver’s License
• Must pass Criminal Background Check

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week

Schedule:

• 12 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• On call
• Overnight shift
• Overtime
• Rotating weekends

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Caregiving: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Driver's License and car insurance? (Preferred)
