Pay: Starts at $22.50/hr
Since 2017, Just Compassion has partnered with the City of Beaverton to operate a severe weather shelter out of the Beaverton community center. In the 2022-2023 season, the shelter will be running from November 1st 2022 to May 31st 2022.
We are seeking responsible, motivated, compassionate people to help run our Beaverton Shelter this upcoming severe weather season!
Purpose:
The Shelter Coordinator will oversee staff and coordinate services at our Beaverton Severe Weather Shelter. This position will work with our community partners to manage a 30-bed shelter for the 2022-2023 shelter season. They will provide supervision to the shelter staff and work with other Just Compassion leadership to maintain an efficient and safe operation and provide critical services for the participants in our programs.
Accountabilities:
- Coordinate all on-site shelter activities, and act as the authority in charge of guests and volunteers at the site. Responsible for the health and safety of everyone on site.
- Check in guests each day and secure/check bags
- Facilitate Timely Transitions for Guests
- Inventory and maintain supplies, including kitchen and cleaning supplies (bleach, gloves, masks, etc.)
- Coordinate daily laundry service, cleaning service, and meals
- Enforce guest rules, including COVID-19 social distancing practices of 6ft distance, regular cleaning of all surfaces, etc.
- Oversee the shower facilities
- De-escalate conflict within the shelter
- Keep records and report regularly to involved community partners
- Direct dinner and overnight volunteers for their roles
- Be available by cell overnight (on-call) to respond to any issues that arise
- Provide continuity to our staff/volunteers and guests by being a recognizable and consistent presence and available for input, ideas, referrals to agencies and improvements.
- Facilitate data entries and exits into HMIS
Other General Expectations:

- Follow all agency polices, procedures, and protocols.
- Follow through on all directives and instructions.
- Maintain security of all agency interests.

Shelter Staff (20-30 individuals)
Education/Certificates/Licenses/Registration:
QHMA credentials, Bachelor of Arts or Science in Psychology or a related field preferred.
Experience/Qualifications:
Prior Shelter Coordinator experience preferred. Management experience required.
