What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Hygienist position at JVM Solutions?
JOB PURPOSE
JVM is hiring a Dental Hygienist to perform a full range of comprehensive Dental Hygiene procedures and practices on site, using Government furnished facility, equipment and supplies to a variety of patients. All aspects of Dental Hygiene service shall be commensurate with the capabilities of the health care worker and the Dental Clinic including but not limited to the items listed below and in the PWS.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Routine workload will be in response to government demand in the form of Dental Officer prescription and the regularly scheduled dental checkups and maintenance program of all residents. Primary workload is a result of appointments for outpatient and inpatient clients in response to the dental clinic's approved dental treatment schedule;
- The work environment involves risks typically associated with the performance of clinical dental procedures. The health care worker will maintain the concept of universal precautions;
- The healthcare worker is responsible for a full range of Dental Hygienist procedures in support of the Dental clinic;
- To treat all Active Duty beneficiaries presented for care;
- Case consultation with referring Dental Officer;
- History, detailed examination, testing (to include blood pressure screening), and diagnosis;
- Performing dental prophylaxis to include ultrasonic and hand scaling, tooth polishing, and oral hygiene instruction;
- Performing infection control procedures including disinfection and sterilization as appropriate, in addition to using appropriate barrier techniques;
- Performing extra and intraoral radiography and fluoride treatments;
- Maintain recall lists and assist in the management of routine Active Duty screenings;
- Prepare instruments for sterilization following clinic guidelines;
- Maintain schedules in accordance with the clinic SOP;
- Actual healthcare worker clinical activity will be a function of the overall demand for Dental Hygienist services. Healthcare worker productivity is expected to be comparable to that of other Dental Hygienists assigned to the same facility and authorized the same scope of practice;
- Coordinate with other healthcare departments and the clinic staff to provide complete care to patients;
- Maintain patient records in accordance with external accreditation organizations and established Coast Guard dental records maintenance requirements;
- Instruct in basic oral hygiene care;
- Dispose of contaminated waste in accordance with the standard procedures of the Dental clinic;
- Expose bitewing, periapical and occlusal film utilizing bisecting angle or paralleling radiographic techniques;
- Assist the Dentist as needed;
- The healthcare worker shall maintain his or her operatory to meet the clinic's standards, and maybe assigned other duties as directed by the Clinic Administrator;
- All treatment plan recommendations beyond the capabilities of the clinic will first be referred to the clinic’s Senior Dental Officer or Clinic Administrator before any action is taken by the Contractor;
- Inventory medicine and drug stocks to ensure adequate supplies and controls;
- Greets and receives patients and directs them to appropriate care;
- Receives and screen phone calls;
- Files and maintains Healthcare records;
- Files healthcare reports in health records;
- Maintains Health Record checkout file;
- Inputs daily patient information into Clinic health information systems; CC. Schedules and tracks consultations for specialty care;
- Maintains referral log and notifies patients of appointments;
- Reviews and verifies patient eligibility for care in accordance with Defense Eligibility FF Enrollment Reporting System (DEERS) computer system guidelines;
- Prepare and submit appropriate documentation as specified in applicable regulations;
- Provides immediate evaluation and management of emergent problems as they occur in addition to regular scheduled appointments;
- Perform digital radiology procedures to include radiograph image management on computer software program.
QUALIFICATIONS
The healthcare worker of Dental Hygiene services shall possess and maintain for the duration of this agreement:
- A diploma or certification from an accredited program of Dental Hygienist;
- A current unrestricted active license/certification to practice Dental Hygiene from one of the 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U. S. Virgin Islands;
- A diploma or certification from an accredited program of Dental Hygienist;
- A current unrestricted active license/certification to practice Dental Hygiene from one of the 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U. S. Virgin Islands;
- A minimum of one (1) year recent clinical experience (immediately preceding the submission
- "No adverse information on file" with the National Practitioners Data Bank (NPDB).
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must pass criminal background check.
