Job Description
Assistant Store Manager
Reports directly to: Store Manager
Position Summary:
The Assistant Store Manager works with the Executive Team, District Manager, Store Manager, and Sales Floor Team. S/he is responsible for assisting the Store Manager in driving store sales by providing an exceptional customer experience, coaching and training the sales floor team, and overseeing all daily store operations while following store policies and procedures. The Assistant Store Manager must demonstrate knowledge of the companys purpose and goals and have the skills to help associates achieve those goals.
Major Responsibilities Include:
Sales Growth & Profitability: Support the marketing teams efforts by ensuring floor-level execution of end caps, promotional signage, and store-wide understanding of the Ace Rewards program. Engage with your customers, local businesses, and community to discover new ways to better serve them (such as hyper-local products, new B2B offerings, and new services). Assist the Manager in driving the business-to-business (B2B) initiative and ensuring its ingrained in the store culture.
Accountability: Management is held to a higher standard and always Customer Ready. Show up on time, actively find replacements in advance for shifts, complete job responsibilities each day with accuracy and thoroughness to protect company assets and remain flexible to business needs regarding scheduling.
Customer Experience: Fully embody the companys core values and what it means to be The Helpful Place. Promote Customer Service as the #1 priority. This must be accomplished on a daily basis through observing, monitoring, and coaching associate performance and interactions on the sales floor. Review OSAT scores and work with the team to identify opportunities to sustain or improve overall service levels.
Communication: Ensure open, professional, and clear communication. Leverage Trello to communicate daily tasks to your team. Intervene to bring about prompt settlement of both employee and customer complaints.
Coaching and Training: Work on your own professional development through leadership training opportunities (self-directed learning, local business events, Ace Learning Place, etc.). Train and develop retail staff with goals for growth and success in their positions and throughout the company. Identify appropriate training for store associates and oversee all training requirements for all associates (e.g. New-Hire orientation, on-the-job training, vendor training, etc.). Delegate responsibilities and tasks to teach and empower your associates.
Inventory: Maintain accurate inventory at all stages through on-hand integrity, daily receiving and transfers, store communication, and adhering to Kabelins best practices, metrics, and deadlines. Utilize available inventory reports to reduce shrinkage, maintain appropriate stock levels and maximize inventory accuracy.
Daily Operations: Ensure the sales floor team is guided to accomplish tasks, help develop daily goals or challenges, ensure the team and store are customer ready, and help support the Store Manager on any tasks or issues that need to be resolved or completed (e.g., Walkthroughs, Zone Checklists, Observations, etc.).
Safety, Compliance, and Store Environment: Enforce safety policies and procedures. Serve as a role model for safety. Enforce store environment procedures to ensure and maintain the best store appearance. Conduct preventative safety and fire inspections and take appropriate actions to correct all issues.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Knowledge:
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to provide motivation and leadership to associates storewide in a fair and impartial manner.
High degree of analytical skills, and the ability to delegate and be self-directed.
Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
Proficient in all store technologies: Zebras, Ace Retailer App, Eagle, Acenet, Epicor, Windows, Paycom, etc.
Have a complete working knowledge of and willingness to use: cash register/point of sale (POS), inventory audits and outs, paint mixer, paint computer, KeyStart program, key machine, repair and re-screen windows, and use the pipe machine, forklift, and engraver (where applicable), etc.
Possess a valid in-state driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with companys insurance carriers standards.
Forklift certified (or willingness to obtain certification).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for an extended period of time, walk, reach, and bend to perform job duties.
Ability to move and lift merchandise / fixtures up to 40 pounds throughout the store.
