LOCATION: National Law Enforcement Communications Center (NLECC) - Dulles, VA and Fort Worth, TX
SECURITY CLEARANCE: MBI
SCHEDULE: Due to the nature of law enforcement work and this operation, shift work will be required.

About the role:
Primary point of contact for high profile Postal Service incidents as well as the liaison between the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) National Operations Center (NOC). Facilitates the dissemination of incident information and critical alerts from other government agencies to Postal Service and USPIS executives and employees. Communicates directly with NLECC Managers, Coordinators, and CCOS personnel as needed. Watch Desk is staffed and operated 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- This position operates in a 24/7/365 environment including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Dispatchers will work the hours and/or shifts assigned and begin and end work on time.
- All activities involve the use of computer technology, which requires a high level of accuracy, concentration, attention to detail, and multi-tasking.
Prerequisites:
- Must meet the requirements of a Dispatcher Level I. ( Twelve months total experience with entry level competencies or 2 years of LE Dispatch Experience)
- Must be a Dispatcher Level I or equivalent for a minimum of 6 months.
- Must have received above average performance ratings as measured by the supplier's performance rating system.
- Must be able to work in high-pressure situations.
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing sufficient to obtain and disseminate clear, concise information.
- Must have valid CPR Certification or be willing to obtain one immediately
What you will do:
- Provide guidance on Watch Desk protocols to US Postal Inspection Service personnel in a professional manner.
- Maintain working knowledge of Watch Desk applications, databases, and protocols.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
- Possess a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma.
- Be a citizen of the United States of America.
- Be able to attain and maintain a USPIS Moderate Background Investigation (MBI) Clearance.
- Be able to sit for an extended period of time while monitoring multiple computer monitors.
- Be able to maintain professionalism under highly stressful situations.
- Be able to read and comprehend the English language; including, printed regulations, written instructions, training material, etc.
- Be able to write reports, and document events in a concise and accurate manner. This includes the ability to proofread all documentation for grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Be able to speak the English language clearly and fluently.
- Be able to provide quality customer service while communicating with internal and external parties.
- Be able to hear ordinary telephone and radio conversations with either ear.
- Must possess strong computer and data entry skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Be able to type a minimum of 45 words per minute (WPM).
- Be able to manage and prioritize tasks from multiple simultaneous sources (radio, telephone, alarm monitoring software, etc.).
Additional Position Requirements:
- Accept assignment to work as a Dispatcher, as needed.
Dress and appearance standards:
- USPIS requires all personnel are required to wear nothing less formal than business casual attire as defined by:
- Pants must be slacks.
- Shirts may be polo or dress (with collar).
- Footwear must be closed toe/heel shoes; no sandals, tennis shoes or flip flops.
- Appearance must be clean and neat; torn, tattered or soiled clothing will not be permitted.
- Hats, baseball caps, bandannas are not permitted.
