Summary:
The Legal Assistant performs a variety of office and administrative support duties with a focus on commercial litigation in federal and state courts, as well as matters before state regulatory agencies, including the Nevada Division of Water Resources. The position requires thorough knowledge of all Firm-related administrative processes and procedures, information technology systems, research tools, and have a broad-based understanding of the clients, matters and associated practices. Pay depends on experience and qualifications.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist multiple attorneys with all aspects of pleadings, motions, and discovery.
- Process time entry, open new matters, draft engagement letters and audit responses.
- Processes associated with court and regulatory agency services including filing, requesting transcripts and associated filings and documents.
- Tracks and analyzes local and state law and regulatory activities as needed.
- Full knowledge of filing in federal and state courts.
- Knowledge and familiarity with procedures before the Nevada Division of Water Resources.
- Prioritizes, manages, and follows through on a variety of administrative projects.
- Processes associated with the coordination or management of phone calls, voice mail messages or conference calls.
- Processes associated with drafting, revising, proofreading, or transcribing documents, presentations, or correspondence.
- Prepares letters, memos, and reports as directed.
- Performs clerical duties to include typing, filing, and completing simple forms
- Proofreads a variety of documents for grammatical, spelling and format errors.
- Edits documents from handwritten notes, annotated hard copy, transcription, shorthand, etc.
- Processes and dockets court and regulatory agency filings.
- Searches company or business names and registration (e.g., filing documents, forms, charges, provisional charges).
- Manages calendars and schedules appointments for attorneys.
- Manages confidential and privileged information with tact and good judgment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation AND two years of recent and relevant experience.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
Job tasks may be performed in close physical proximity to other people. Work is typically performed in an office environment while sitting at a computer screen for extended periods. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts when working with office machines. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms when working with computers, or office machines. This position requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions, exposure to sounds and noise levels that may be distracting or uncomfortable. Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; continually lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Salary : $46,000 - $58,300
