Kahler Slater seeks an innovative design professional with passion and expertise in the design of Workplace projects to join our firm as a Workplace Practice Leader.
Our ideal Practice Leader is an architect or interior designer who has extensive experience in the Workplace market. As a Practice Leader, you will drive a successful team to leverage our design process and deep portfolio to grow and evolve our Workplace projects.
You will lead a team by example, aligned with our open, flexible, culture that encourages individual initiative and collaboration. You will build trusting relationships within the team and across Kahler Slater.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities of a Practice Leader – Workplace:
Leadership
- Inspire and lead a growing Workplace team in client service, design approach, and project delivery
- Establish an environment that encourages experimentation, innovation, and design creativity
- Contributes to a high level of energy and enthusiasm on the team, and fosters a spirit of collaborative problem solving and design excellence
- Stay at the forefront of trends in design and clients' issues, adding to the firm’s thought leadership initiatives by actively contributing with writing, speaking and/or design research
Project Development
- Manage and lead teams to deliver transformational experiences for our clients, providing strategic advisory and project design leadership
- Leads the generation and translation of design and planning concepts into final solutions with the overall responsibility for client satisfaction and financial performance
- Business Development
- Leads the development of strategies and the implementation of marketing efforts for the Workplace team
- Achieve mutually established annual business objectives
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities of a Practice Leader – Workplace:
- 10 years as a design professional
- Professional licensing a must (Architect or Interior Designer) 5 years of experience of building and maintaining client relationships in the Workplace market
- Bring established client relationships that will result in Kahler Slater growth
- Proven ability to build business and deliver complex Workplace projects
- Strong communications skills, spoken, written, and graphic
- Focuses on collaboration and cooperation with others, demonstrating team leadership
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills with the ability to handle conflict directly and tactfully
- Subject matter expertise revealed through discussions, presentations, writings, references, and the active professional relationships you maintain
- Able to work effectively under pressure and within restrictive time deadlines and budget parameters while maintaining focus, positive attitude
Working relationships and scope for the Practice Leader – Workplace:
- Reports to Corporate Team Leader
- Collaborates with other team and firm leaders
- Represents the firm in alignment with Kahler Slater’s core values
- Mentors staff members
Working conditions for a Practice Leader – Workplace:
Some travel between our office locations will be required to serve clients, develop new business, and for professional development. We expect this travel to be less than 25%.
