Test Engineer

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE BUSINESS: As a Test Engineer (Associate) in Kainos, you’ll work within a multi-skilled agile team, developing and executing functional automated and manual tests to help the team deliver working application software that meets user needs. You’ll do this whilst learning about new technologies and approaches, with talented colleagues who will help you learn, develop and grow. MINIMUM (ESSENTIAL) REQUIREMENTS: • Experience in manual (including exploratory) and automated testing. • Experience using Test Automation open source technologies (e.g. Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, XPath, CSS Selectors, Cucumber, Protractor). • Able to create and maintain automated tests using pre-defined open-source tools/frameworks (e.g., Selenium-WebDriver, JUnit/TestNG). • Practical knowledge of at least one object-oriented programming languages (e.g. Java). • Experience with version control systems such as Git/SVN. • Experience working in Continuous Integration environment and configuring tools for testing such as Jenkins and/or TeamCity. • Experience working closely with developers to ensure all testing layers have adequate coverage, including unit and integration. • Good technical ability and can assist with test automation tasks and has a desire to develop their test automation skills further. DESIRABLE: • Experience testing within Agile delivery environments. • Experience of mentoring and coaching members of your team. • Experience in designing tests from documented requirements and the ability to identify and manage undocumented requirements through testing. • Experience of using cross-browser/device execution services such as SauceLabs, BrowserStack and Selenium-Grid • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate to other technical people.
