Kaleidoscope Community School is a community of professional educators, parents, and students who believe school should be a fun, safe, and rigorous educational experience that prepares children to be the leaders, innovators, and influencers of their generation. Through the discipline of science, art, and nature, we use a project-based learning approach to nurture each student’s learning journey. We are seeking a passionate teacher to join the talented, dynamic staff at our North East Salem location. The ideal candidate would demonstrate:
- intentional teaching practices that are grounded in the Reggio Emilia approach
- an eagerness for project-based learning that is child-led
- a commitment to integrating Common Core academic standards into our progressive curriculum
- a working knowledge of positive discipline and emotionally responsive strategies
- the ability to set high standards with an equally strong love for working with children
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Previous teaching and/or homeschooling preferred.
- State of Oregon licensing requirements to meet the teacher qualified requirements:
Completion of 20 credits (semesters) or 30 credits (quarters) of college level training in Early Childhood, Child Dev, Elementary Ed, or Special Ed. OR a one year nationally recognized credential . OR one year of qualifying teaching in a certified center OR 10 credits (semester) or 15 credits (quarters) AND six months qualifying teaching experience in a certified center. OR Documentation of attaining at least Step 8 in the Oregon Registry. PLUS: Current CPR/1st aid, food handlers card, central registry enrollment (CBR)Other required courses must be completed during the first 30 days.
