General Description
The Accounting Specialist II is responsible for assisting the accounting operations of the agency as well as providing backup for selected general accounting functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Position-Specific
- Coordinates with program directors to ensure census and attendances is accurate for billing. Prepares and submits monthly billings to DCFS for all fee for service Manages the billing spreadsheet to update payments and rejections. Follows up with program directors and DCFS on open receivables.
- Prepares billing documentation and submits cost-based billings to DCFS and other.
- Prepares monthly recurring entries, updates schedules and reconciles general ledger accounts.
- Manage funder grant disbursement process for ETV program.
- Analyze and manage the account receivable process for all grants to ensure AR aging agrees with grant balance.
- Enter cash receipts for payments.
- Manages accounts receivable functions, including recording revenue and applying payments in the financial system.
- Prepares the worksheet and journal entries for payroll, payroll accruals and benefits allocation. Works with the CFO to ensure allocations are up to date.
- Serves as back up for Accounting Specialist for AP processes.
- Assist in assembling data for annual financial audits, program audits and special.
- Performs other tasks and functions as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.
Educational Requirements and General Qualifications
Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
Degree Preferred: Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum Years of Experience: 3 years of accounting experience, including accounts receivable & journal entries. Non-profit experience is a plus.
Information Technology Skills Required: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Accounting software proficiency.
Other Requirements: Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication and time management skills. Full time use of insured, operating automobile and valid driver's license

Salary : $60,000 - $65,000
