Team Supervisor: Kansas Ethanol, LLC in Lyons, KS is looking for qualified people to join our production team. Experience in an industrial plant is preferred, as well as a familiarity with industrial equipment operations and care.
Job Purpose
Follow production schedule and manufacturing processes to assure safe and efficient production of ethanol.
Performs the following duties personally.
Supervision/Direction
The supervisor provides continuing or individual assignments by indicating generally what is to be done, limitations, quality and quantity expected, deadlines, and priority of assignments. The supervisor provides additional, specific instructions for new, difficult, or unusual assignments including suggested work methods or advice on source material available.
The supervisor makes assignments by defining objectives, priorities, and deadlines; and assists employee with unusual situations which do not have clear precedents. The employee plans and carries out the successive steps and handles problems and deviations in the work assignment in accordance with instructions, policies previous training, or accepted practices in the occupation.
Essential Functions
Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Regularly communicate with Production Operators on status of QC and adjust accordingly.
- Monitor all aspects of plant operations from the DCS and control room concerning safety, temperatures, flows, pressures, QC, and adjust accordingly on a continuous basis.
- Transfers current plant operating conditions to oncoming team.
- Startup and shutdown plant in times of breakdowns or severe weather conditions based on safety of employees and/or plant components.
- Relay problems/concerns/QC/Plant performance information to Operations Manager and/or Maintenance Department.
- Communicate with operators and laboratory on fermentation progress and make decisions to keep fermenters healthy.
- Oversee shift housekeeping.
- Interact with team members as well as plant personnel to maintain safe, efficient operations of plant.
- Help train new operators in designated field.
- Work under pressure and multitask at all times.
- Learn and thoroughly understand plant operations and why the plant operates as it does.
- Be able to analyze product samples and adjust quality to maximize production, efficiency, and stay within QC standards.
- Operate numerous plant machinery as needed to move supplies or products and/or clean at facility.
- Supervise team members around railcars for loading and unloading of several products or supplies.
- Other assignments and projects as requested by any member of management.

Knowledge and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a batch type chemical manufacturing facility or other industrial plant is preferred.
- Familiarity with industrial equipment operations and care.
- Experience leading or managing a team is preferred.
