Overall Responsibility:
Responsible for the overall functioning of all radiology services, including MRI, CT, X-ray, portable; and Fluoroscopy; as well as both the inpatient and outpatient functions and the associated records management. Responsibilities include: supervision, scheduling, budgeting, Performance Improvement; and performing diagnostic radiology procedures, MRI and CT. Responsible for staffing, orientation, clinical education, competency evaluation, policies and procedures related to the operation of the radiology areas. Responsible for collaboration with the staff, physicians, and other departments to ascertain their needs and desires in the operation of the Radiology Department.
Key tasks and responsibilities
Essential functions:
- Directs and facilitates establishment and implementation of plans, operations, and programs in Radiology as assigned, ensuring efficient and professional services designed to meet the needs of patients, personnel, and physicians.
- Provides administrative direction to staff. This includes but is not limited to establishment and maintaining standards for procedures, budget plans for capital acquisitions, as well as procurement and contracting.
- Responsible for budgetary recommendations, monitoring, verifying and reconciliation for expenditures of funds.
- Coordinates the establishment of schedules, task assignments and allocation of personnel and equipment in all areas to ensure coordinated delivery of services.
- Responsible for various personnel functions including, but not limited to, hiring, merit recommendations, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules within Radiology.
- Responsible for performance improvement and quality assurance activities.
- Performs radiological exams as needed.
- Ensures radiology personnel obtain patient history and clinical data for correlation with radiological procedures ordered and furnished to the radiologist prior to each procedure.
- Ensures patient safety and welfare.
- Establishes and maintains Radiation Safety Standards.
- Actively participates on appropriate committees and PI activities.
- Actively protects patient and self by following OSHA and other standards reviewed in annual training.
Experience preferred: 5 years of management experience, good communication skills, both verbal and written, experience with budget management, staff evaluations and computer skills.
