Position Summary In this role, you will be the Tech Lead for the team and create automated test suites to ensure the lab workflows, analytics, and results reports are effective and accurate.  Why Should You Join Karius? Reports to:   Director, DevOps and Quality Engineering Location:      Redwood City, CA (Hybrid) or Remote (USA) Primary Responsibilities ●Be the Tech Lead for the Software QE team ●Create automated test cases and test suites for our Next Generation DNA Sequencing (NGS) lab order to report workflow and data analytics systems. ●Coordinate with software engineers to create test steps, test utilities, and manage complex test data sets. ●Create tools to automate the management, documentation, and communication of tests. ●Impact overall product development by driving robust and reliable software quality best practices with the development and testing teams.  ●Interact with users and software engineers to be a system-level subject matter expert within engineering. Understand how the system is used by customers and its functional behavior. ●Perform some manual testing, primarily for exploration and troubleshooting new workflows. ●Quantitatively monitor the development and test processes and drive continuous improvement with automated metrics. Position Requirements ●BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical fields involving algorithms or coding (e.g., physics or mathematics).  ●10 years of engineering experience, at least 8 years of which in SQE and 5 years of hands-on web/mobile functional, integration, system, and API test automation. ●Strong ability to program with languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java (or any other JVM based language). ●Strong experience with open source tools such as Cypress, BDD/Cucumber, WebDriver/Appium, RESTAssured. ●Experience designing and implementing large-scale test suites from scratch along with maintaining and troubleshooting existing test suites. ●Experience setting up tests (including FMEA tests) and testing applications on a cloud-based platform (AWS, Azure, GCP) and tying these tests into CI/CD pipelines. ●Experience with project management and working in a small dynamic startup engineering team. ●Experience in collecting software quality metrics and monitoring operational metrics. ●Strong ability to mentor software and quality engineers on testing strategies. Preferred Skills and Experience ●Experience developing web applications, services, and APIs on a cloud platform.  ●Performance and load testing, with tools such as Gatling and Jmeter. ●Experience developing software in the medical or healthcare industry is highly desired, including knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements such as CAP/CLIA, FDA, 21 CFR, HIPAA, and GDPR ●Formal Verification and Validation in areas such as government contracts, financial applications, or the medical industry. Travel: If outside the San Francisco Bay area, travel to Karius Headquarters for face-to-face meetings once per quarter.       Physical Requirements:  Subject to extended periods of sitting and/or standing, vision to monitor and moderate noise levels. Work is generally performed in an office environment.
