Position Overview:
The Solar Service Technician is an integral member of our field operations crew, working in a team environment to service and maintain solar arrays at residential and commercial properties. This role ensures accurate and timely repairs, manages project specifics, and adheres to best policies and safety practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and Repairs: Respond to tickets from dispatch for preventative and corrective maintenance tasks at residential and commercial solar projects. Test, analyze, and repair issues in inverters, monitoring systems, batteries, combiner boxes, switchgear, and other components.
- Installation: Install mechanical systems for roof-mounted solar systems. Install electrical service equipment, wiring, and devices required for solar PV systems, ensuring all systems meet company standards, the National Electrical Code, and local regulations.
- Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, plan sets, and sequence of operations to ensure proper installation and operation of equipment.
- Safety and Compliance: Assess job sites to identify and resolve potential hazards. Weatherproof solar installations in accordance with local safety regulations and manufacturer specifications.
- Customer Interaction: Provide excellent customer service, maintaining a professional appearance and interaction with clients. Explain technical details and system operations to customers as needed.
- Documentation and Reporting: Create or interpret solar panel installation plans, mapping out installation steps. Update department and supervisors on project specifics and maintain accurate service records.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of construction-related experience, with a strong understanding of NEC codes related to solar PV installations.
- Technical Skills: Ability to work at heights, climb ladders and stairs, lift heavy objects, and work on feet for long periods. Skilled in reading and interpreting technical diagrams and plan sets.
- Independence: Ability to work independently, manage your own schedule, and follow instructions accurately. Quick learner with the ability to know when to ask questions.
- Team Player: Motivated and looking to succeed and grow within the company. Excellent team player with a strong work ethic.
- Customer Service: Strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and professional appearance.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces.
- Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions.
- Ability to transport materials and equipment (up to 50 pounds frequently, up to 100 pounds with assistance).
- Ability to work safely in various environments including branch/warehouse/attic/basement/rooftop.
- Ability to operate office equipment including computers and determine the accuracy of work

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
