Summary for the Power Apps Developer
The Power Apps Developer will work as part of the Application Development team to administer and use the Microsoft Power Platform (including Power Automate and Power BI), to build and deploy custom applications within a legal environment. Custom applications may include, but will not be limited to, marketing analytics, HR, and other non-legal department metrics, business process automation, financial analytics, and other data visualizations or applications critical to law firm operations. The Power Apps Developer maintains professionalism and strict confidentiality in all client and firm matters.
The Power Apps Developer can be located in our Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York or Washington, D.C. office. Katten offers a hybrid work model, allowing the flexibility to work both on-site and remotely on a regular basis (KattenFlex).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following. Other duties may be requested and/or assigned. - Design, build, and maintain applications and dashboards using the Power Apps platform user interface.
- Work closely with various business stakeholders, including Marketing, Talent, Practice Management, and Finance to gather requirements and develop high-quality solutions using Power Apps and Power BI. Solutions will include data visualization and reporting solutions, business process automation, and integration with existing commercial or internal applications.
- Design and implement complex, multi-system workflows utilizing Power Automate desktop (RPA) and cloud flows (DPA) for applications and business process automation with available and custom API connectors, REST API, Azure Functions, workflow definition functions, and an understanding of user and organization licensing requirements.
- Manage the administrative aspects of Power Apps, including user management, security, and data integration. Work with the Cloud Infrastructure team to ensure the platform complies with industry standards.
- Provide training and documentation to in-house trainers and/or end-users on how to utilize Power BI dashboards effectively.
- Act as a subject matter expert and provide technical support for Power Apps and Power BI related inquiries and issues.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related specialty. Three or more years experience designing and developing solutions using Power Apps and Power BI is required. Strong knowledge of Power Apps, including canvas apps, model-driven apps, and portals, and experience with Power Apps administration is required. Experience in a large legal or professional services firm is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure services such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, Azure Analysis Services, etc.
- Relevent certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Power Platform App Maker Associate, Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate) preferred.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Power Apps updates and new features. Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in Power Apps, Power BI, and Microsoft Azure technologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Exhibit high degree of initiative in exercising independent judgment with demonstrated troubleshooting, follow-through, and critical-thinking skills in order to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, detail-oriented, and consistently changing work environment with the ability to make decisions based on results of research.
- Ability to compile and analyze data and furnish information in report format, written correspondence, e-mail, or verbally.
- Work occasionally requires more than 37.5 hours per week (35 hours in New York) to perform the essential duties of the position.
The annualized salary range for this position in the New York office is $130,000 to $160,000. The annualized salary range for this position in the Los Angeles and Washington D.C. office is $120,000 to $150,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
