Program Summary

KBR maintains and manages Army prepositioned stocks at the Army Field Support Battalion - Charleston (AFSBn-CHS) land site and aboard ship to include all logistics and maintenance operations. The KBR APS-3 Program is managed and executed at Goose Creek in support of the Army’s power projection doctrine and resources. The contract provides maintenance of APS-3 stocks (Class II, IIIP, IV, VII, IX) to ensure that unit sets stored aboard marine vessels are configured and maintained at optimal readiness. KBR provides limited maintenance and supply support aboard ship to ensure that equipment sets are maintained in a ready condition for emergency download and issue to operating units at the direction of the US Army. KBR also provides maintenance services and logistical support for other Army programs IAW individual scope of work contract requirements.

Job Summary

The Shipboard Department consists of approximately 30 employees, some are land based at APS-3, but most are permanently performing duties aboard five Large Medium Speed Roll-on/Roll-off (LMSR) ships located in the Western Pacific and Indian Ocean theaters of operation. Mechanics provide Field Level Maintenance and surveillance on the full spectrum U.S. Military combat and tactical weapons systems, as well as other supporting equipment elements stored on board the vessel.

This position is located in the Shipboard Operations Department afloat for the APS-3 Program, located on the Charleston Naval Weapons Station, Joint Base Charleston. Job Summary: The Material Coordinator coordinates and expedites flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules or department supervisors' priorities. In this job, the Material Coordinator reviews production schedules and confers with department supervisors to determine material required or overdue and to locate material, requisitions material and establishes delivery sequences to departments according to job order priorities and anticipated availability of material; arranges for in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules, and with department supervisors for repair and assembly of material and its transportation to various departments, and examines material delivered to production departments to verify if type specified.

This Worker may monitor and control movement of material and parts, compute amount of material needed for specific job orders, applying knowledge of repair and maintenance processes; compile report of quantity and type of material on hand, move or transport material from one department to another, using hand or industrial truck; uses stock records in order to locate material for the maintenance process, using computerized system. Provides guidance and training to lower level supply personnel, e.g., Warehouse Specialist, Stock Clerk, shipping Receiving Clerk and provides assistance to the Ship Supervisor.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Learn storage plans and perform a variety of warehousing.
  • Verify materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages, routing materials to prescribed storage locations.
  • Store, stack, or palletize materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods.
  • Rearrange and take inventory of stored materials.
  • Examine stored materials and report deterioration and damage.
  • Remove material from storage and prepare it for shipment.
  • Identify items required per load, inventory, and account for required quantities and take appropriate action to prepare items for loading.
  • At times operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications (Required Education, Experience, Skills, And Certifications)

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a U.S. Government issued Secret Security Clearance and ma a Secret clearance and maintain it for the duration of your employment on this contract.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain local base access.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Requires a High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Requires at least 2 years of directly related work experience.
  • Must be familiar with staging and palletizing material for loading into containers.
  • Must possess a valid State Driver’s License.
  • Must comply with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand - between 2 to 3 hours per day.
  • Must be able to walk - between 4 to 5 hours per day.
  • Must be able to Lift - up to 35 lbs. – 50 lbs. periodically.
  • Must be able to squat, knell, bend, reach and climb periodically.
  • Must be able to work outside and inside in non-climate-controlled environments.

Preferred Qualifications (Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, And Certifications)

  • Military background is preferred.
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Previous or current CAC card holder preferred.

  • Our workforce is paid hourly based on a guaranteed 40-hour work week; the daily schedule is from 6:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday-Thursday (work hours are determined by the hiring manager).
  • For hourly employees, the premium overtime is paid at time and a half.
  • The APS-3 daily schedule is a 4-day workweek with the potential for overtime during high-demand missions.
  • The APS-3 standard workweek schedule is from 6:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday-Thursday with possible overtime of up to 8 hours (as the mission demands).
  • The APS-3 workforce receives 11 Federal Holidays per year in addition to paid time off.
