What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr Financial Analyst position at Kearney & Company?
Kearney & Company is seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst to join our team! The Sr. Financial Analyst will operate within a client-facing team that supports audit remediation and financial reporting activities within the headquarters of a large federal agency. This role will require a general understanding of federal financial management, federal audit, and the federal budget process. A successful candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, experience with federal financial management, and an understanding of FASAB standards and guidance, USSGL, and federal accounting scenarios. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Analyze new or existing legislation, guidance, standards, or agency policy, identify potential gaps in existing operations, and recommend solutions
- Support or lead creation of new process solution including but not limited to desktop guides, quick reference sheets and one pagers, and briefing materials
- Assist with manual vouchers and support to correct financial reporting deficiencies
- Analyze audit findings and support remediation activities including but not limited to process owner interviews, process analysis, gap analysis between old and new processes, and resulting change management support
- Support training development including training materials and supporting resolving questions from the customer
- Provide meeting support including notetaking, action item tracking, and document management
- Contribute to delivery of engagement objectives, actions, and status reporting
- Support the mentorship and review of junior staff on the project
- Support ad-hoc process improvements or compliance activities
- Support development of federal financial reporting and operational reports
- Support development of analytic or automation tools to remediate audit issues or streamline operational processes
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Finance, and/or business-related field with a minimum of 2.5 years related work experience
- Experience working with federal audit or processes with a CFO Act Agency
- Understanding of GAAP and FASAB standards and guidance
- Understanding of USSGL and federal accounting scenarios
- Ability to read guidance, standards, and regulations and apply to development of lasting solutions for financial offices
- Ability to analyze process deficiencies and identify improvement recommendations
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance (requires U.S. citizenship)
- Ability to independently design solutions to solve complex operational deficiencies
- Strong written and verbal communication with an ability to condense complex information into briefings for internal teams or external clients
- Strong critical thinking skills that can analyze data, identify issues, and reconcile between large, frequently complex datasets
- Advanced MS Excel software skills
Preferred:
- MBA/MS degree from an accredited college/university and a CPA
- Experience supporting compliance with federal accounting standards
- Experience preparing or reviewing journal vouchers
- Experience with Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) software
- Experience with OMB A-123 and Green Book compliance
- Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task across both business and technical deliverables
- Self-starter with the ability to work effectively independently or within a team

The expected salary range for this position is between $66,000 and $95,000. This range is representative of base pay only and does not include straight time pay for hours worked over 40 per week, company contributions towards paid benefits, and/or bonuses. Actual compensation (meeting or exceeding the range) will be determined based on specific experience, education, work location, clearance level, and other factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for bonuses (when applicable).
