Position Overview | The Big Picture

The Technical Producer sells, designs, contracts, and produces all categories (corporate, social, gala, etc.) of virtual, hybrid and face-to-face events. The Technical Producer will plan and develop custom event platforms, event programming and media production components as well as design custom lighting, audio, video, and staging elements through a collaborative relationship with the clients, venues, internal producers, and production departments. This position may cross-sell/refer all brands to clients including Kehoe Designs Décor, BlackOak Technical Productions, and The Geraghty.  The Technical Producer uses independent judgment, reports to and receives direction from the BlackOak Technical Productions Sales Manager, and receives direction from the Managing Director, Kehoe Designs Director of Sales and collaborates with the BlackOak Technical team and other Event Producers.

Essential Duties | What You’ll Do - The Fun Stuff

  • Meets with clients to develop event technology design themes and styles and secure event business. 
  • Collaborates with Creative Services and Event Designers to develop technology themes and designs.
  • Writes and negotiates profitable proposals and sales presentations within accordance of company guidelines.  
  • Secures client commitment regarding down payment, signed contracts, and future payments according to department standards.
  • Has the opportunity to seek out and target new customers and sales opportunities to secure new business.
  • Develops, maintains, and improves regular contact with current clients to secure future business by scheduling appointments, sales presentations, and proposal opportunities.
  • May cross-sell/refer all brands to clients including Kehoe Designs Décor, The Geraghty, Floral Exhibits and Entertainment.  
  • May act as key Client Lead as requested when projects involve more than two lines of cross-brand business:  Kehoe Designs Décor, BlackOak Technical Productions and The Geraghty. 
  • Acts as the main contact for clients and project manager for all internal teams.
  • Acts as a liaison and process expert with clients to answer questions, adjust contracts and event specifications and ensure clients are satisfied with the sales and execution processes.
  • Creates production schedules, storyboards, and run-of-show for large events in partnership with the client.
  • Meets with clients, vendors, venues, and subcontractors as the primary representative of the company.
  • Suggests enhancements to event components and gains client approval for production concepts.
  • Represents the company values and mission objectives in the marketplace while networking.
  • Collaborates with the producing team, production team, and project team to ensure the event is produced and executed according to the contract and client expectations.
  • Develops event styles using new and existing technology.  Participates in brainstorming sessions with designers, creative team, and clients to create new theme/design ideas.
  • Manages virtual, hybrid, face-to-face event components and pre-event process to ensure event is designed, coordinated, and executed successfully, including holding meetings with key production players and with clients and venues, both in-house and on-site.
  • Attends the events to ensure clients are satisfied and the event is executed successfully and according to contract.
  • Understands technical components, how technical disciplines relate to each other, and how the technical elements relate to the décor and design portion of the project.
  • Builds relationships with venues, caterers, consultants, and company clients and to ensure high levels of vendor and client satisfaction.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve sales processes, decrease turnaround times, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality, seamless event production and design.
  • Maintains inquiry, project, and client lists in CRM and project software to create and submit reports.
  • Maintains cooperative working relationships with sales and productions team and all departments.
  • Follows all department and company safety policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    • Completes all Human Resources and Payroll tasks and notifications through the Employee Self Service Online Portal on a weekly basis, as directed and within established timelines. 
    • Assists in other departments as needed and directed.
    • May perform other duties as required.
       

Qualifications | What You Need to Bring

  • 2-3 years sales and event production experience (particularly in a creative or event technology industry).
  • Excellent customer service skills including tact and diplomacy.
  • 1-2 years of virtual event experience or media production preferred.
  • Associates or Bachelors’ Degree in Hospitality, Theater Design and Production or Business preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Technical Production including lighting, audio, video, and staging.
  • Openness to learning new processes and industry products that will enhance the overall design and execution of events.
  • Ability to develop, read, calculate, and interpret contracts, pricing, and financial reports.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required, particularly in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Outstanding interpersonal communications and conflict management skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills. 
  • Works well in a fast-paced setting with an ability to adhere to deadlines and goals.
  • Proficiency in effectively dealing with competing demands.
  • Excellent attention to detail, highly organized, and outstanding follow-up skills.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision.
  • Openness and respect for the diversity of every individual at all organizational levels. 
  • Knowledge of website development or event planning software a plus

 

Physical and Work Environment Requirements | What it is Like in the Office

  • Ability to use a computer 75% the workday.
  • Ability to sit up to 75% of the workday.
  • Ability to walk 50% of the workday on office and 100% of workday while on-site.
  • Required to move throughout the buildings during the workday.
  • Ability to travel to client and venue locations to preview events.
  • Must be able to tolerate moderate noise.
  • Must have 20/20 vision with correction.
