Kejr Family Farms, LLC, a 4th-generation family farm in the Salina, KS area, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Full-Time Farm Agronomist. Responsibilities:
Crop Management: Provide expert guidance and recommendations on crop selection, planting techniques, fertilization, pest and weed management, and disease control. Develop and implement comprehensive crop management plans to maximize yields, improve crop quality, and optimize resource efficiency.
Precision Agriculture: Utilize modern technology, such as remote sensing, GIS mapping, and precision farming tools, to collect and analyze data related to crop performance, variability, and resource utilization. Develop precision agriculture plans to optimize input usage and monitor field conditions for timely decision-making.
Research and Innovation: Stay updated on the latest agronomic research, trends, and innovations. Collaborate with research institutions, industry experts, and other agronomists to identify and implement best practices. Conduct on-farm trials and experiments to evaluate new techniques, products, and technologies.
Equipment Operation: Operate application equipment to apply liquid and dry crop protection products in a timely and safe manner. Assist in planting and harvesting of crops as needed.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, or related field.
● Proven experience in agronomy, crop consulting, or related roles.
● In-depth knowledge of crop management practices, soil science, pest and disease management, and precision agriculture.
● Familiarity with local crops and growing conditions in the Central Kansas area.
● Proficiency in using agronomic software, GIS mapping, and precision farming tools.
● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
● Willing to work long hours as necessary.
● Good communication and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
● Valid driver's license and ability to travel to different farm locations as needed.
