Job Summary:
The Traffic / Transportation Project Engineer EI works closely with other engineers, technical specialists, and clients to successfully deliver innovative solutions for our clients’ needs. They work as a key team member of roadway, site, and bridge teams across Keller’s offices to deliver a wide range of traffic and transportation projects for our state, municipal, and private-sector clients.
Responsibilities include:
- Produce traffic studies from beginning to end, including: traffic counts, traffic forecasting calculations, four-step trip generation process, capacity analysis, safety analysis, signal warrant analysis, and report writing.
- Participate in all phases of a project including planning, design, and construction.
- Develop intersection layouts, sight distance determination, temporary traffic control plans, signing and pavement marking, and traffic signal plans.
- Analyze engineering and survey data and interpret design standards and guidelines to make sound decisions and solve design challenges.
- Work with multidisciplinary technical teams on a variety of project sizes.
- Develop plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
- Develop a knowledge of design standards, processes, and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with traffic analysis/modeling software HCS and Synchro/SimTraffic. Additional experience with VISTRO, VISSIM, or SIDRA is preferred.
- Experience with drafting software MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer or AutoCAD/Civil3D.
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills; submit a writing sample demonstrating work experience or coursework in traffic studies or traffic flow theory.
- Excellent organization skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with multiple priorities.
- Attention to detail, quality work products, and client service.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- 0-4 years of relevant professional experience.
