Job Summary:

The Agricultural Laboratory Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring all laboratory operations run smoothly through managing staff schedules, reordering supplies, and maintaining compliance standards. You will have the opportunity to utilize managerial skills to create safe and effective operations within the lab.


Responsibilities include:

• Train and mentor lab technicians and assistants on proper usage of equipment
• Ensure all employees follow industry standards and safety regulations for the handling and disposal of samples
• Directly oversee data analysis, review, and reporting
• Release samples to laboratory personnel and communicate due dates and update turnaround times
• Review data for accuracy prior to reporting
• Oversee the laboratory’s quality management program
• Recommend measures to improve testing procedures, uses of equipment, and needs for new equipment
• Communicate with clients concerning laboratory results

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a science field required
• Laboratory supervision/management
• Prior experience in environmental and agricultural laboratory role required
• Agronomy background desired
• Strong leadership, management, and communication abilities required
• Fluency in statistics, spreadsheets, budget planning, cost analysis, and computing
• Ability to collaborate with other team members and departments to resolve problems and run programs
• Experience preferred with ICP and NDIR (Nitrogen Analyzers, General lab extractors, pH meters
