Kelly Services is currently looking to hire a *Design Engineer II* to work for one of our top Medical Device clients on-site in* **Rochester, NY* for a long-term contract position. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a renown company in an exciting industry.
The *Design Engineer II* will support the development of innovative mechanical design methodologies, through the utilization of CAD, to produce ophthalmic medical devices. This role will act as a mechanical design team member and provide a strong mathematical and programming skillset through product development process. The role will also include custom programming application development.
*Responsibilities: *
* Develop and implement procedures of mechanical design methods
* Develop tool, mold, and lens mechanical models using CAD software
* Develop customized programs needed for translation of designs into downstream processes.
* Prepare design documentation including drawings, models, specifications, and release documents.
* Define and coordinate product testing (clinical and bench) requests
* Participate on product development teams acting as mechanical design and algorithm development / programming expert throughout the development process
* Perform data analysis of processing data during product/process development
* Develop and implement innovative design methods for conceptualizing and optimizing contact lens, tool and/or mold designs
* Interface with customers and internal functions to define and develop product specifications and designs
*Requirements:*
* BS in Mechanical Engineering, or related curriculum
* 3-9 years relevant industry experience in mechanical engineering
* Demonstrated expertise in developing mechanical models and designs using CAD software (preferably SolidWorks and CATIA)
* Experience with algorithm development and programming using Matlab, VisualBasic, Microsoft Developer, Python, C , or similar analytical software
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Demonstrated expertise with MS Office product (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
* Strong problem-solving and optimization skills
*Preferred:*
* MS in Mechanical Engineering, or related curriculum
* Experience with regulated medical device development environment (ISO/FDA)
* Finite Element Analysis experience
* Strong mathematical background, with algorithm development and computer programming experience
