Laboratory Technician - Job Description:
The Microarray Research Services Laboratories MRSL in Santa Clara is looking for a highly motivated, creative problem solver who can be part of a team.
Responsibilities: performing high throughput genotyping, DNA copy number, and DNA extraction.
Looking for a dedicated individual, who is a quick learner and enjoys challenges.
How you will make an impact?
We provide customers with service offerings for microarray genotyping, gene expression and Next Gen Genotyping platforms using sequencing technologies.
We provide customers with an opportunity to test our platforms and prove their efficacy.
We have both internal and external customers from both industry and academia worldwide studying a large variety of subjects and organisms.
Job Responsibilities:
We have multiple lab environments in our organization and you might work in any of four environments.
Do genotyping assays such requiring use of multi-channel pipettes, reagent preparation and sample tracking.
Perform high throughput genotyping using automated liquid handlers and timed schedules.
Provide assistance in the pre-PCR lab environment performing quantitation and normalization of nucleic acids utilizing automation.
Work in a BSL2 space for nucleic acid extractions Other general laboratory duties include Enter data into LIMS.
Report any out-of-calibration or broken equipment.
Fill out inventory sheets for material consumed
Assist team in stocking/restocking materials and shipping/receiving customer samples.
Qualifications: BS in biological sciences fields, such as Biology or Biochemistry with 1-2 years laboratory experience in basic laboratory techniques required such as micropipetting, solution preparation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, optical density measurements, work with Laboratory Information Management System LIMS .
