The Office of US Health Equity & Community Affairs (HECA) leads the strategic planning and execution of Takeda’s vision for health equity. In addition, this unit pursues and manages relationships with Takeda’s external and community stakeholders to operationalize our commitment to building community wellness. External Affairs seeks to support US Medical’s vison to improve patient outcomes through medical excellence and strategic partnerships. External Affairs collaborates with medical teams and other cross functional partners to engage key external stakeholders to advance medical and scientific innovations for patient-centered, equitable care. We are searching for a seasoned health communications and engagement professional to develop and implement internal and external communications plans and provide program management support for key partnerships. This position will work closely with the broader HECA team, U.S. Medical Therapeutic Area and functional leaders, U.S. Corporate Communications and U.S. Public Affairs.
Who will be successful?
- Strong applied health communications skills and demonstrated experience designing engagement plans and communication programs for public health, biopharmaceutical industry or other areas of healthcare
- Demonstrated ability to develop targeted communications aligned to corporate and medical narratives, at appropriate health literacy levels and other needs of the target audience
- Ability to interpret and translate scientific content into clear and relevant communications to a variety of audiences including health care professionals, quality and public health organizations, patients and communities
- Experienced in design, implementation and management of programs and complex projects with a understanding of appropriate metrics
- Entrepreneurial approach with a learning and innovative mindset
- Technologically savvy
- Collaborates in a way that drives performance and accountability for plans
- Effectively navigates the changing external and internal environment and is able to flex approach based on evolving needs
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed ecosystem with a high degree of complexity and ambiguity.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced degree in health communications, behavioral science or related degree preferred.
- 6-10 years in health communications with biopharmaceutical experience preferred.
- Demonstrated success building strategy, communications plans and innovative communications in the healthcare sector
- Skilled writer with experience in both medical and consumer communications, particularly related to health equity, through a lens of health literacy and inclusivity
- Experience managing complex programs involving a variety of stakeholders
- Driving and monitoring projects across multiple workstreams
- Proven leadership skills, conceptual thinking and strategic problem-solving ability
- Experience operating in a highly dynamic, changing environment
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence via virtual forums
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook).
- Strong experience and advanced proficiency with Excel and MS Project or alternative project management software to leverage project planning tools
