What’s a typical day as a Medical Referral Specialist? You’ll be:
- Responsible for checking all email accounts for referrals
- Ensure that all necessary documentation is received.
- Be proactive and reach out to get MRI s, Contact Info if needed, etc Send email response to referring provider or attorney acknowledging receipt of referral
- Create Patient Number and enter referring info into
- Practice Fusion Responsible for calling and setting up initial appointment notifying referring provider and attorney
- If 3 attempts are made and you are unable to reach patient, you will need to reach out to referring provider or attorney and let them know
- Responsible for tracking all New Patients/Referrals by provider attorney
- Provide weekly reports to Operations Coordinator for all NP s
- Responsible for researching if not provided all contact information for providers attorney s phone numbers, address, attorney name, case manager, paralegal/contact person emails cell numbers if available
- Responsible for ensuring all MRI s are received before the patients initial appointment
- Responsible for filling out all referral forms to other providers, scan attach to pts EMR send a copy to the pts attorney
- Responsible for maintaining list of appropriate providers that we refer to for each attorney
- Responsible for following up to make sure appointment is made with provider that we refer pt to
- Responsible for following up with providers that we have referred to get status to update the patients EMR
- Responsible for ensuring all procedures are pre-authorized by attorney
- Responsible for finding out policy limits, and noting this in the pts EMR to include property damage
- Responsible for putting appropriate color sticker on pt chart to indicate policy limits
- Responsible for inputting policy limits in the tracking spreadsheet Note in
- Practice fusion any updates or important information in the messages
- Responsible for Sending out the Letters of Protection to the attorneys
- Responsible for tracking to ensure that we receive all letters of protection back from the attorneys in a timely manner
- Once Letters of Protection are received, responsible for scanning attaching document into the pts EMR
- Provide translation as needed
