Plant Designer/CAD Operator

Kelly Outsourcing & Consulting Group (KellyOCG), a managed solution provider and business unit of Kelly Services, Inc., is currently seeking a Plant Designer/CAD Operator for a long-term engagement at one of our Global clients in Ringwood, IL.

As a Plant Designer/CAD Operator placed with KellyOCG you will be responsible for the following:

Summary:

The Plant Designer is an individual with experience in the various aspects of chemical plant design who can perform the duties of a Designer for projects large and small. These duties include producing design drawings, interfacing with other engineering disciplines, and performing field design work. All employees are expected to follow KellyOCG and client safety guidelines and expectations.

Core Responsibilities Include:

• Overall responsibility for the design work on assigned projects
• Oversees the production of drawings and documents
  • Typical Drawings Include
    • Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s)
    • Civil
    • Architectural
    • Equipment
    • Piping
    • Electrical
    • Structural
• Maintains plant drawing files including electronic and hard copies
• Performs design and drawing work
• Interfaces with other engineering disciplines, departments, and clients
• Monitors design costs and schedules for projects
• Performs field work by obtaining information, making field sketches, and verifying drawings
• Read and understand Technical Drawings
  • Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation
  • Buildings, HVAC and Piping
  • Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
• Help to procure hard copies of project/plant drawings, as needed
• Provide Hand Sketches of conceptual design for small projects and reviews
• Work with the plant maintenance system coordinator to help ensure that Equipment History and SAP numbers are assigned for all new installations
• Completes actions as assigned per the Management of Change (MOC) Process

Required Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience in Chemical, Petrochemical, Gas/Oil, or related industry in a relevant role is required
• Proficient in Autocad Versions (2015 through 2019), Microsoft Excel and Word
• Excellent communication skills, organizational and work coordination skills, and interpersonal skills are critical to role success
• Must exhibits professional behaviors and maintains high ethical standards.
• A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2-year or 4-year engineering Technology Degree is desirable
• Experience in consulting engineering is desirable
• Understanding of Piping Specifications
• Working knowledge of typical plant process equipment, piping and instrument systems
• Knowledge of Bentley MicroStation is desirable
