The Tooling Inspector role might be an outstanding fit if you:
- Have a minimum of a HS diploma or GED (required)
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience (strongly preferred)
- Experience with basic measuring equipment such as CMM’s, vertical balancers, horizontal balancers, optical comparators, and/or electronic torque management systems (required)
- Experience reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints (required)
- Knowledge of geometric tolerances/measurement techniques AND/OR experience with operation and or maintenance of Hexagon or Mitutoya CMM machines AND/OR experience with maintenance on horizontal and/or vertical balancing machines AND/OR experience working in a metrology lab/familiarity with calibration records and NIST traceability (strongly preferred)
What’s a typical day as a Tooling Inspector? You’ll be responsible for calibrating equipment used to support jet engine repair and overhaul operations. Tooling will include torque wrenches, angle blocks, gage blocks, bench centers, torque multipliers, micrometers, dead weights, etc. Typical duties will include:
- Maintain calibration records to FAA standards
- Support QA investigations into “cost of poor quality” incidents
- Support troubleshooting of shop gages and tooling as needed by operations
- May be required to operate and maintain specialized measurement equipment such as CMM’s, vertical balancers, horizontal balancers, optical comparators, and electronic torque management systems.
