What are the responsibilities and job description for the EHS Manager position at Kem Krest?
MISSION
Develop, execute, and maintain environmental health and safety strategy and initiatives for the Michigan locations in order to build world class safety and waste compliance systems.
- OUTCOME: Manage and Execute Safety Training Plan and Build a Culture of Safety Awareness
- Establish and maintain safety training calendar for all Michigan locations
- Timely execute and document all required safety training for Michigan locations
- Establish initiatives to build a strong safety culture
- OUTCOME: Accident Investigation, Reporting and Analysis
- Develop, implement, and manage near miss, safety incident and accident policies and procedures
- Ensure that all near misses, safety incidents and accidents are timely reported and documented
- Timely report all safety related metrics
- Analyze near misses, safety incidents and accident trending and recommend measures to drive incident rates below industry standards
- OUTCOME: Track and Manage Workers Compensation Claims
- Manage submission and tracking of workers compensation claims to drive claims to efficient resolution
- Track, publish, manage and drive reduction in workers compensation costs
- OUTCOME: Hazardous Waste Management Monitoring, Disposal and Reporting
- Develop, implement, and execute programs to train managers and employees in compliance requirements and practices
- Analyze and recommend techniques for handling hazardous waste in compliance with applicable standards
- Manage waste storage, disposal and compliance and track waste laws and regulations that might affect the company’s policies and practices
- Manage expired, obsoleted and SLOB materials
- OUTCOME: Wastewater Compliance and Reporting
- Monitor and manage wastewater and storm water activities and maintain applicable wastewater and storm water permits
- Manage spill response training, kits, supplies, monitoring and reporting
5) OUTCOME: Compliance Auditing
- Develop and execute appropriate auditing processes to ensure EHS compliance for Michigan locations
- Manage safety and waste compliance processes to drive continuous improvement in EHS function for the Michigan locations
STRENGTHS TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- BS in safety, environmental health, engineering, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in related field
- Knowledge of local, State and Federal safety regulations
- Safety, Industrial and other certifications preferred
- Waste or transportation industry experience preferred
- Experience in managing projects
- Experience training associates at all levels
