Overview
The Kenilworth Park District is seeking a high-energy, enthusiastic person to help lead and develop a top-tier community & event center known as the Kenilworth Assembly Hall. Just north of Northwestern University on Lake Michigan, the Kenilworth Park District sits within the Village of Kenilworth and is just a little over a half of a square mile. This is a rare opportunity to join a small professional team dedicated to serving the needs and desires of a phenomenal community through the management of a nationally historic building that has been turned into a bustling community center with food trucks, music events, weddings, parties, and special events. This position plays a key leadership role in the experienced and professional Park District.

The person filling this role should be passionate about delivering remarkable customer services and experiences across all facets of the Park District. Additionally, this person should have an outgoing, friendly attitude and be able to take on any challenge and turn it into a positive experience. The ideal candidate would be a good leader, well organized, and able to prioritize tasks to maintain efficient operations.

Job Summary

The Event and Marketing Manager is responsible for the management, organization, and supervision of the Kenilworth Assembly Hall including events, rentals, operations, supervision of maintenance staff, liquor inventory and packaging, and marketing. This includes giving tours of the facility, selling the facility and its amenities, creating contracts, managing rental packages, and making sure excellent customer service is consistently delivered; and revenues and profitability are maximized. This person works closely with the rest of the leadership team to shape the direction of the District.

The Event & Marketing Manager will supervise the work of part-time event coordinators, Manage the Kenilworth Assembly Hall department budget, Provide staff support to
committees and member organizations of the Park District including the Chamber of Commerce. They will facilitate the schedule and use of the Kenilworth Assembly Hall for all events and programs. The ideal candidate will assist with the direction of marketing plans, branding and social media for the Kenilworth Park District & Assembly Hall. Additionally, this position provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Executive Director.

Supervisory Capacity

The Event & Marketing Manager reports directly to the Executive Director.
Exercises direct supervision over part-time professional, and clerical staff. Additionally, provides direction and supervision to independent contractors.

Duties and Responsibilities
 Promote the Kenilworth Park Districts public image and develop effective strategies to encourage participation in programs.
 Organize and proof all hard copy and digital marketing materials for the agency.
 Organize and proof a seasonal mini brochure for the community, highlighting all community events for the Park District and arrange for printing, mailing and distribution.
 Produce and distribute weekly email blasts using the District Constant Contact account.
 Assist with the Kenilworth Park District websites, including editing, writing and management of software.
 Maintain the Kenilworth Park District Social Media platforms
 Assist in creating promotional materials for recreation programs and revenue generating facilities.
 Lead and nurture the culture of the department in a manner that promotes open and dynamic communication, allowing department personnel to perform duties efficiently and effectively and work as a team in accomplishing desired goals and objectives.
 Identify and pursue opportunities for business sponsorship and partnership with the community.
 Must have strong leadership skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and outstanding time management skills.
 Photographs and captures video of District programs, activities, meetings and special events, construction projects and trainings in cooperation with other full-time staff.
 Creation of special event promotional materials in print, digital and social media. Creation of press releases for internal and external communication.
 Prepare Park District reports as needed.
 Develop and prepare Kenilworth Assembly Hall Budget
 Manage, staff, and maintain records for all events held at the Kenilworth Assembly Hall
 Give tours to potential renters of the Assembly Hall.
 Handle all event management for the Kenilworth Assembly Hall from inception of contracts to completion of rentals and events.
Other Duties
 Attend training sessions and classes for professional development.
 Act as the District Clerk and maintain record of minutes for all Park District Board meetings.
 Network with other Park Districts and event establishments to keep informed of marketing and rental trends and public relations efforts.
 Member of the Kenilworth/Wilmette Chamber of Commerce.
 Follow all safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Park District Safety and Crisis Manuals.
 Perform additional duties as assigned.
 Must be flexible with hours to match programs and events.

Position Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Event Management, or a degree with related marketing and event management experience.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience. Experienced in desktop computer software applications including Microsoft Office, InDesign, Photoshop, WordPress, and Event Management software. Must have a minimum of one (1) to three (3) years supervisory experience. Proven expertise in editing and writing for publications, websites, and marketing materials. Experience in creating a comprehensive marketing plan preferred. Fluent in written and spoken English.

Certifications: CPR and First Aid Certification. Classes available through District upon hire. Must have a valid Illinois Drivers License.
