Calciner Operator

An experienced operator in the APT plant who is fully trained in other areas and proficient in their work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Safety
• Participate in all safety programs
• Observe all safety rules and wear appropriate PPE, where required. Report all safety incidents, unsafe acts and conditions
• Adhere to all safety, environmental, and internal guidelines and policies
• Drying and oxidizing feeds for the ammonium paratungstate (APT) plant
• Operation of high temperature furnaces
• Operation of crushing and screening equipment
• Operation of hoists
• Operation of a pneumatic particle conveying system
• Participate in the process improvement program
• Perform other duties as assigned by Production Specialist, Supervisor or Plant Manager

Equipment Used: Personal Protective Equipment, Furnaces, Barrel Grab, Forklift, Shovel, Crane, and Scales

Skills/Knowledge Required:

• Complete mentor program in a timely manner
• Trained in three areas in the Chemical Plant
• Transferable to move or work in other trained areas as deemed necessary by the Supervisor and / or Plant Manager
• Operate equipment properly and keep area clean
• Ability to perform on a 12 hour shift
• Good attitude

Physical Requirements:

• Wear personal protective equipment
• Must be able to use both hands at the same time while pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, lifting, stooping, and walking
• Must have good eye/hand coordination with all physical movements well coordinated
• Must be able to work for long periods, while standing
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 25kgs

Education Guidelines:

• High School Diploma or GED

Experience Guidelines:

• Previous experience in chemical operations or powder handling is desirable
• Previous experience handling acids and bases or other chemicals is desirable
