Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer with experience in electrical engineering, instrumentation and controls for municipal pump stations and water and wastewater facilities to join our growing practice providing multi-discipline engineering and environmental solutions to clients in the water environment and industrial sectors.  Candidates will be considered in any of our office locations, with the opportunity to work from home or hybrid.

What you’ll do: 

As part of our team, you will provide consulting services and technical leadership in the Instrumentation and Controls area within the electrical engineering discipline. You will work closely with the Discipline Leader for Instrumentation and Controls, and other electrical engineers and designers.  Many of the current staff members work both on power and I&C, and it is anticipated that this will continue as staff are utilized in their areas of interest and expertise while also considering fluctuating types of workload.

Your tasks will include providing instrumentation and control system design with our multi-discipline project teams through self-performance as well as delegation.  You will work with the I&C discipline lead to assist with QA/QC functions and standards development, to improve the efficiency and quality of our work products, and to provide scopes and budgets to support new proposal/project endeavors.

The technical aspects of this role will involve working directly with our clients throughout the company’s geographic footprint, providing detailed process control system designs, developing instrumentation and control strategies for industrial processes, SCADA system architecture and design, performing feasibility studies, providing cost estimates, conducting field studies, and providing field support during construction and startup.  This challenging work will be on projects from initial planning stages, through design and construction. This role may include serving as a Project Manager on specific assignments or projects.

What you’ll need:

Ten or more years of experience as a consulting electrical engineer (or control systems engineer) in the detailed design of large infrastructure projects such as pump stations and water and wastewater treatment facilities

Preferred experience should include serving as a lead engineer in the design and specification of instrumentation systems for pumping applications, developing Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and control strategies, PLC programming, and SCADA system programming.

BS or MS in electrical engineering

Registration as an Electrical Engineer or Control Systems Engineer in at least one state with an ability to gain reciprocity in other states
