What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Front Office Assistant position at Kentucky Addiction Centers?
Help manage the daily operations of a medical counseling center in order to help our team provide the most thorough care to our patients in an efficiently and respectful manner.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Interact appropriately with patients and record information while greeting, checking-in, checking-out or scheduling or confirming appointments for patients
- Utilize computer programs to add new patients, check patients in and out, print out relevant forms for processing, and schedule appointments, scanning patient documentation into EMR
- Answer telephones, take detailed and accurate messages, and ensure messages are directed to the appropriate individual
- Ensure complete and accurate patient demographics and current insurance information
- Verify patient insurance via phone or website and collect any necessary payment for services
- Obtain insurance prior authorizations for pharmacy, medical services and or referrals
- Reviews details and expectations about authorizations for services with patients
- Assisting with handling patient payments/batches, posting patient payments and billing
- Assisting the Physicians/Providers and Director as needed with tasks/projects
- Other general duties as assigned as needed
Qualifications and Skills
- Knowledge of Kentucky Addiction Centers services, standards, policies and procedures
- Skill in operating phones, computer, software and other IT systems and transmit correspondence by mail, email,or fax
- Skill in oral and written communication, ability to communicate with employees, patients and other individuals in a professional and courteous manner
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and to ensure accuracy of reports and data
- Clearly communicate information about Kentucky Addiction Centers to patients and other individuals, identify and utilize community resources and establish and maintain relationships with identified service providers
- Must be positive, organized, caring, and motivated to provide quality care in a fast-paced environment
- Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment
