The Development Coordinator supports annual and long-term strategic fundraising primarily through concierge services for individual and corporate donors. This position also serves as a Tessitura power user, with responsibilities for entering and tracking select gifts and acknowledgements.
Organizational Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supports the mission, vision, values, and standards of behavior of Kentucky Performing Arts.
- Exhibits effective communication skills including proper use of Kentucky Performing Arts communication systems.
- Participates in appropriate professional development programs to attain and maintain competency.
- Effectively manages financial and physical resources to achieve the mission of the organization.
LEADERSHIP: Responsible for representing the organization in a professional manner and providing staff with a positive role model.
- Represents Kentucky Performing Arts in all matters appointed by the Vice President of Development & Advocacy.
- Coordinates and tracks corporate membership benefits, often serving as the point person for corporate members.
- Manages and tracks community ticket donation requests.
SERVICE ORIENTATION: Strives to meet or exceed expectation in the delivery of services and contributes to enhancing the quality of the work environment.
- Provides concierge service for individual and corporate donors related to ticketing needs and other benefits, including supporting donor pre-sales and requests through the Donor Hotline.
- Enters and tracks gifts to Governor’s School for the Arts along with managing the acknowledgement process.
- Assists with other data entry as needed.
- Assists with execution as needed for cultivation and acknowledgement events/activities.
- Promotes a culture of philanthropy through appreciation for gifts of time, talents, and treasure among donors, volunteers, and staff.
TEAMWORK: Effectively works with other members of the team, drawing on all resources to achieve common goals or solve a problem. Promotes teamwork as a way to generate positive and creative results.
- Works collaboratively with other team members to execute overall fundraising strategy.
- Supports other Development team members as needed with information, ideas, strategy, and project work.
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT: Manages resources such as time, expenses, supplies, labor etc.
- Ensures accurate and timely recognition of donations to Governor’s School for the Arts.
- Ensures accurate and timely entry of contributions within Tessitura database.
- Schedules volunteers for project support as needed.
COLLABORATION: Develops strong working relationships with leaders, vendors, community organizations, and colleagues.
- Works with colleagues to ensure internal resources and processes support the fundraising plan and culture of philanthropy.
- Collaborates with colleagues and community organizations in execution and management of community ticket donation requests.
- Participates in external arts and cultural activities and meetings to represent KPA.
RESULTING ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
- Ability to effectively communicate in all internal and external relationships for all essential job functions.
- Above average skills in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to lift approximately (25 - 50) pounds unassisted using appropriate lifting techniques and/or devices.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- The employee is frequently required to sit or stand for long periods of time, as well as stoop, bend, kneel, and crouch.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience within fundraising and/or donor/patron relations
- Experience with Tessitura or similar patron/donor database
- Experience managing simultaneous duties and prioritizing projects as appropriate
- Experience successfully communicating with and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
EDUCATION, LICENSE and SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- High level of skill working within Tessitura or similar patron/donor database
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills with internal and external audiences, including speaking, writing, and editing
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in all duties
- Competency in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, etc.)
- Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Ability to plan, organize and execute with a minimum amount of supervision
