Scope of Position
Employee is the conduit for human resources in a small manufacturing plant, working alongside a team of four (4) other managers. Responsible for driving the implementation of the company’s HR strategy and HR delivery model. Coach, collaborate with, and partner with the employees and the management team to provide leadership and proactive solutions for people and organizational issues.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Direct the development of corporate policies and procedures related to Human Resources.
- Establish and lead the company’s talent management strategy performing all aspects of hiring process including: workforce planning, recruiting, participating in interview process, hiring, on boarding, training and development, and performance planning.
- Lead the performance management program which includes: goals and objectives, measurement, appraisals and compensation.
- Work cohesively and effectively with senior management and other management on site at the plant.
- Oversee all employment labor law compliance, standards and regulatory concerns. Maintain knowledge and lead the company’s compliance with governmental and labor requirements including: ACA, EEO, ADA, FMLA, ERISA, DOL, Workers Compensation, SCDEW and OSHA.
- Represent the company at personnel-related hearing and investigations. Ensure minimal exposure.
- Create strategic training and organizational development plans to meet personal, professional and organizational needs of the company.
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations. Issue corrective action, performance improvement plans and terminations as necessary.
- Promote and foster a culture which improves work relationships, builds morale, increases productivity and retention. Management of the company’s recognition and rewards programs and initiatives.
- Manage and perform tasks and functions associated with the employee benefits program including Café Section 125, supplemental benefits and 401(k) administration. Coordinate employee participation in the benefits programs including the annual open enrollment process. Interact with the broker to analyze proposals and plan designs to ensure competitive plan offerings.
- Manage and perform tasks and functions associated with the processing, maintenance and analysis of payroll for all divisions and classes. Ensure accurate time keeping. Prepare specialized reports and information on a scheduled and as requested basis. Process new hires, terminations, promotions, salary changes, and title changes within the system. Calculate and administer bonuses, vacation pay and other fringe benefits.
- Oversee the Environmental, Health and Safety program ensuring compliance with OSHA. Manage all workers compensation claims and investigations. Coordination of employee training programs to ensure compliance with OSHA. Champion of the company’s Safety Committee and audit team.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
- 5-7 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in managing others and leading initiatives.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, ADP Payroll, and HRIS systems.
- Demonstrated capability in building a team and leading change efforts.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees.
- Excellent organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Conversational Spanish a plus

The employee may be required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as viewing a computer screen up to 8 or more hours a day.
Employee is expected to be onsite at plant during office hours of 8am – 5pm, with some exceptions.
The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions and is generally protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The employee may be subject to noise when on the manufacturing floor which will be required for performing duties.
