Kermes & T Art Academy is currently seeking to hire a contract-based Sewing/Fashion Instructor to join our creative team, specializing in fashion design portfolio development.
We are particularly interested in individuals who have a deep understanding of garment construction and fashion illustration techniques suitable for portfolio building.
The ideal candidate should possess extensive knowledge of sewing techniques, pattern making, and fashion design principles. Basic proficiency in digital illustration tools is preferred. We are looking for someone who can lead sewing and fashion design classes while offering creative guidance for portfolio development.
This is a contractor position with the potential for long-term collaboration. The hourly rate is negotiable based on experience and skill level.
Qualifications:
- Legal authorization to work in the US.
- A degree or equivalent experience in fashion design or related field.
- At least one year of teaching experience is required.
- Availability to teach on weekdays evenings (3-7 pm) and weekends.
- Strong commitment to teaching and meeting deadlines.
- Proficiency in sewing techniques and pattern making.
- Familiarity with both traditional and modern fashion illustration methods.
- Bilingual in English/Mandarin is a plus.
- Tech-savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Adobe software. Experience with fashion design software is desirable.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
