Applicants must be willing to work any shift including evenings and weekends and any 5 of 7 days. 5% additional pay for evening shift work; 7 ½% additional pay for night shift work.
Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledges and abilities;
Knowledge of: the basic principles of operation of a gasoline powered engine, knowledge of good public relations practices; knowledge of common garden tools; knowledge of common hand tools; ability to read and follow instructions as written in equipment manuals; ability to recognize unsafe equipment and unsafe conditions; ability to operate equipment which requires the shifting of gears; ability to understand and follow oral instructions; ability to recognize the need for watering and to determine the amount of water required; ability to lift or move heavy objects.
POSSESSION OF A VALID CLASS III CALIFORNIA DRIVERS LICENSE PRIOR TO THE TIME OF APPOINTMENT.

Examinations:
Written Exam (100%): May include knowledge of common garden tools, plant care, the ability to follow written instructions, knowledge of safe work practices and other relevant subjects.
Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.

This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate appointment(s) will be made at the Sheriff's Office. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission. Candidates are encouraged to indicate acceptable geographical locations in which they would accept employment on their application form. Candidates MUST be willing to travel to these locations (areas/district offices).
