Job Duties
Direct leadership of the Production and the Continuous Improvement departments; Liaise with the site maintenance department for ongoing production needs; Oversee production activity to ensure that demands are met, while meeting Safety, Quality, and cost expectations; Manage and drive lean initiatives, Continuous Improvement projects, champion Lean Principles and methodologies, RCA’s, Kaizen, SPC, etc.; Control department costs for the products produced, including providing support on managing the overtime of the staff; Manage subordinates involving reviewing weekly timesheets, providing support when managing the PTO/sick and vacation time; Liaise with Quality Assurance for food safety expectations, environmental concerns, GMP and HACCP expectations; Manage the selection and training of all new hires; Verify that all safety policies are being followed as designed; Provide leadership by promoting team concepts, coaching, counseling, retaining, mentoring, training, talent management, and individual development; Drive a culture of accountability and results through strategy deployment and effective performance management; Drive a culture of Continuous Improvement in all Production areas with a clear focus on Safety, Food Safety and Quality both procedural and cultural/behavioral. Will directly supervise 3 employees in the positions of Production Supervisor and Production Assistant.
Requirements
The position of Production / Continuous Improvement Manager requires a Bachelor's degree, or its foreign equivalent from an accredited institution in Business Management, Engineering, or a related field and 4 years of progressively responsible post-Baccalaureate experience.
Additionally, the applicant must have: 1). Experience with implementing lean manufacturing processes and principles in a food manufacturing facility such as: create flow, pursue perfection, establish pull, map the value stream, and define value; 2). Experience with the 8 lean wastes of manufacturing, including how to address them and improve them at a food manufacturing facility; 3). Experience with implementation of the Kaizen events, use of kaizen process to improve teamwork, personal discipline, improved morale, quality, and suggestions for improvement. Additionally, experience with using the Kaizen process to drive change and continuous improvement in a production setting; 4). Experience with continuous improvement to ensure production environment is always changing, adapting and improving.
