ABOUT THE POSITION
The Cost Accountant position is responsible for evaluating and analyzing the various costs associated with a company's products or services. The Cost Accountant’s primary goal is to provide accurate and insightful information to help management make informed business decisions.
The Cost Accountant will work at the Kerusso headquarters in Berryville, Arkansas. Candidates must be within commuting distance to Berryville, Arkansas. The position is full-time (Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm).
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cost Analysis: Conduct thorough analysis of product costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead expenses.
- Variance Analysis: Investigate and explain any variances between actual and budgeted costs. Identify areas for cost reduction or process improvement.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of budgets and forecasts related to costs. Monitor performance against these benchmarks.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and analyze inventory levels, ensuring accuracy and proper valuation. Collaborate with other departments to optimize inventory levels.
- Cost Allocation: Allocate costs to various departments and products based on established methodologies.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on cost-related metrics to management. Communicate findings in a clear and concise manner.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies. Stay updated on relevant regulations affecting cost accounting.
- Process Improvement: Recommend and implement improvements to cost accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and cost accounting standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, procurement, and finance.
- Must be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of providing valuable insights to support strategic decision-making.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Cost Accountant or in a similar role.
