The Position

We are looking for an Engineering Lead for the Air and Space Operations Center Weapon System (AOC WS) 10.1 Program. The 10.1 program sustains the software currently deployed at Air and Space Operations Centers across the globe, supporting warfighters that need access to information today.

The 10.1 Engineering Lead will work in conjunction with other leadership, the 10.1 Deputy Program Manager, and the 10.1 Program Manager to ensure clear and constant communications about the progress of engineering work and accepting change requests as they come in.

Ideally this individual has a high degree of skill in facilitation and communication, opting for simplicity. They should value and be able to articulate the importance of focusing on outcomes over outputs from strategy to implementation.

What You Will Do

  • Serve as the Engineering Lead for the 10.1 SPO Engineering, LTM&S Engineering, and JWICS teams
  • Oversee the Planning Stage activities of the Enterprise Change Requests (ECR) process executed by the SPO Engineering and LTM&S Engineering teams
  • Oversee the JWICS team and associated activities to maintain and upgrade the JWICS baseline
  • Maintain ECR backlog awareness and ensure timely progress
  • Interface with Government Functional Leads to ensure engineering is tracking functional lead expectations and understandings
  • Lead and conduct the Engineering Change Working Group (ECWG)
  • Prepare Engineering Management Review (EMR) and Change Review Board (CRB) charts as needed
  • Prepare charts for Requirements Engineering Working Group (REWG) when required
  • Work with Engineering and Integration team leads on developing and monitoring the progress of goals and activities
  • Maintain insights into AOC WS baseline procurement List of Materials, Bill of Materials, technical evaluations, etc.
  • Provide acquisition and technical inputs to the contracting office (PWS, MOAs, cost estimates) for contract development and option year execution
  • Manage and maintain relevant engineering support contracts (i.e. review/update PWS, MOA, cost estimate, MIPR checklist, etc. for GCCS-J DISA engineering, integration, and/or test support)
  • Support AOC WS planning and course of action development for AOC WS SPO efforts
  • Any other duties as required

Who You Are

  • You understand the Department of Defense Instruction 5000 series
  • You understand the Department of Defense and US Air Force relationships and have experience in working with Command and Control (C2) or other related mission systems
  • You have at least 10 years experience in engineering, and have engineering leadership experience
  • You have top-quality written and verbal communication skills (e.g., capable of public speaking, changing your messaging based on the audience, etc.)
  • You are comfortable providing advice, recommendations, and guidance with incomplete information
  • You excel when operating in ambiguity, but understand that others don't
  • You have strong leadership and management skills with a diverse workforce
  • You practice ruthless prioritization when managing expectations of competing and sometimes conflicting needs
  • You are an expert facilitator; guiding difficult conversations to productive outcomes
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to incorporate multiple perspectives
  • You are a U.S. citizen and are eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (see eligibility requirements here)

This is a Federal civilian service position within the United States Air Force. We are hiring at the equivalent of a GS-14 up to GS-15 level for this position. This means you can expect a base salary of $99,908 to $152,771 multiplied by your locality rate, based on your experience. You can find your locality definition here and see the pay tables for the GS scale here. Our headquarters is located in Boston, MA; for a Boston-based employee, this would translate to a range from $130,929 to $183,500.
