Overview
Under the direct supervision of the therapists and / or assistants, the Rehab Aide's primary role is to support the therapy team in smooth, efficient patient care by assisting in treatment, set-ups, patient care / scheduling, etc.
Participates and initiates activities to meet or exceed customer needs, both patients and co-workers. May order department supplies, including linens, for OT, PT, and SLP.
Assistant in training new Rehab Aides and mentoring other Rehab Aides. Maintains inventory of supplies and materials used by OT, PT, and SLP.
Performs assigned duties as needed.
Responsibilities & Requirements
Specific Job Functions
Performs specific duties as assigned to support the Rehab Medicine department.
Maintains / orders medical and non-medical supplies.
Cleans assigned areas frequently throughout the day.
Keeps assigned areas stocked with required items and free of clutter and objects.
Assists in delegated patient care tasks given by supervising therapist / assistant in an assigned time frame.
Is proficient in patient transfer and lifting. Places safety belt on patient, checking area for tubes or sensitivity to pain.
Assists with infection control adherence with cleaning and assessing equipment for proper temperature maintenance and functioning.
Takes the initiative to report to therapist pertinent patient information obtained or reports patient questions / concern related to therapy.
Demonstrates up-to-date job knowledge.
Attends mandatory in-services and meetings as required.
Accepts and completes assigned responsibilities and routine tasks in a timely manner.
Demonstrates the ability to work as a team member toward achieving department goals.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Education
High school diploma.
Minimum Work Experience
Previous work experience in Rehab Medicine or health care environment preferred.
Required Skills
Ability to be flexible and able to adapt to change.
Ability to work under stress and handle multiple tasks.
Ability to follow through with frequent changes.
Ability to follow procedures and adhere to details.
Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with other personnel.
Ability to type and basic computer knowledge
