Vice President, Provider Network Development Overview: The Vice President, Provider Network Development will be responsible for the strategic direction, while maintaining successful oversight, of all network relationships, network development, coordination, compliance, and contract functions of network management for the Key Family. This includes but is not limited to Traditional Self-funded and Direct-to-Employer aligned initiatives. This position works collectively with other areas within the organization including Legal, Claims, Finance and senior leadership, as well as our external clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Vice President, Provider Network Development:

  • Responsible for the Key Family Network Management Team's strategic vision, objectives, policies and procedures related to networks and direct contracting.
  • Provide leadership and communication that is in line with the Key Family Core Values.
  • Subject matter expert / point person for network related questions and clarifications.
  • Oversight of all current and potential networks and direct contracts.
  • Maintain market intelligence on competitive landscape, to include oversight of claim trend data and/or market information, to validate network/contracting needs, adequacy, and competitive market rates.
  • Build and develop strong relationships with targeted networks and provider communities to ensure that contractual relationships lead to meaningful and effective partnerships for all parties.
  • Develop network and direct contracts through strategic contract negotiations, relationship development, and servicing.
  • Establish and coordinate directly contracted hospital and/or provider systems within designated communities, creating formal direct to employer opportunities and/or informal partnerships.
  • Ensure provider education materials and activities are completed in a timely and effective manner to continuously improve relationships with network providers and the delivery of care to our membership.
  • Ensure consistent and thorough review of network legal and compliance updates, in coordination with legal and senior leadership.
  • Provide superior, professional, consistent, and ongoing communication and service with designated networks and clients, to maintain a positive, long-term relationship.
  • Oversight of daily network, client, and internal network requests, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
  • Proactively identify and resolve network specific challenges and needs.
  • Manages network projects and initiatives as business needs dictate. All requirements and documentation should meet Project Management Office standards for submission.
  • Provide effective internal communication pertaining to network implementations, changes, and updates. Including but not limited to email announcements and attending New Case/Renewal meeting, and other meetings as necessary.
  • Successful oversight of all internal network tracking spreadsheets/data for purposes of maintaining network information awareness, requirements, adequacy, and pricing.
  • Oversight of network reporting such as, but not limited to, geo access, disruption, and claims analysis reports upon request.
  • Ensure network is administered within full network guidelines and within the abilities of Key Family.
  • Oversee elevated network issues to resolution, escalating to senior leadership as necessary.
  • Available for occasional network/client related travel as needed.

Vice President, Provider Network Development Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum of five years of experience with network development in a healthcare or Third-Party Administrator (TPA) setting. Contracting and provider relations expertise is required.
  • Exceptional research skills.
  • Proven negotiation and diplomacy skills.
  • Proven leadership and management experience.
  • Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated critical and strategic thinking.
  • Proven abilities in written and verbal communication, as well as presentation skills.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products, such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines.
  • Highly experienced in relationship management with networks, clients and/or brokers.
  • Ability to work proficiently, independently, and timely in a fast-paced environment and be adaptable in a dynamic work environment.
  • People and team oriented.
  • Detailed understanding of operational areas of health insurance is a plus.
