Lead Software Engineer

Kforce has a client in Hallandale Beach, FL that is seeking a Lead Software Engineer. Qualified applicants living in Florida, Texas, North Carolina, Ohio, and Utah will be able to work remote.Responsibilities:

• In this role, the Lead Software Engineer will write modular, maintainable code without guidance on a wide variety of application platforms including E-commerce, streaming audio and video platforms, customer-facing APIs, a variety of member benefit applications, and internal tools

• Clearly communicate complex technical details to both technical and non-technical colleagues

• Work with Architects and other Leads to ensure all areas of our technical infrastructure complement each other

• Lead a team on simultaneous projects while ensuring that the team is focused on delivering quality; Push for good software design and architectural best practices

• Work with Product Managers to create and estimate user stories and tasks in an Agile workflow, and delegate work to members of the team

• The Lead Software Engineer will provide thorough and timely code reviews; Mentor colleagues on software design patterns, effective unit testing, and maintainable coding habits

• Take ownership of tasks and user stories from development to post-deployment; Identify blockers and assist colleagues in testing and deploying code to production

• Coordinate with other Lead Software Engineers to identify cross-team concerns, blockers, and issues

• Show a strong sense of customer empathy and a desire to influence the applications that the Lead build

• The Lead Software Engineer will perform other duties and special projects may be assigned

• 8 years of software engineering design and development experience

• Experience with web frameworks and building distributed web applications

• Strong schema design experience with MySQL or equivalent database technology

• Strong knowledge of version control (preferably git)

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Able to work independently while guiding a team of engineers

• Communicate and collaborate across teams and other departments outside of technology

• Provide detailed performance feedback to help colleagues develop their full potential, motivating both underperforming and high-performing team members

Desired Experience:

• Understanding of PHP 7 features

• Experience with PHP or equivalent backend language

• Modern JavaScript and JavaScript framework experience

• Strong API design and analysis skills

• Experience with Agile methodologies, continuous integration, and continuous delivery

• Strong documentation skills

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
