Summary:
Work both in and outside our customer's homes and businesses to install high-speed broadband, video, Wi-Fi and voice services. Your expert knowledge in our wide range of technology and services will provide customized solutions to meet needs and elevate the installation experience. And to make sure you hit the ground running, we'll provide extensive training and the resources you need in a supportive team environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Install new underground/aerial drops and splice fiber cable.
- Monitor, repair and record system ID's.
- Assure proper signal levels.
- Identify potential customer impacting issues and work proactively to resolve.
- Install and relocate equipment.
- Install interior and exterior wiring.
- Connect peripheral equipment.
- Train customers on proper use of equipment.
- Assure system security.
- Understand/apply FCC and NESC technical standards.
- Identify and report all incidents of noncompliance (NESC, OSHA and Company Standards).
- Provide superior customer service.
- Complete all tasks to company quality standards.
- Maintain professional appearance and behavior at all times.
- Maintain excellent attendance.
- Responsible for motor vehicle per company policy including equipment & tool inventory, vehicle security and vehicle maintenance.
- Replaces defective/damaged equipment.
- Troubleshoots/repairs problems between customer equipment.
- Tests, maintains, splices, repairs and replaces fiber optic cable.
- Performs underground and aerial construction duties associated with FTTx operations.
- Performs network troubleshooting including ping test, trace routes and speed test.
- On-the-job and/or classroom training as required.
- Other duties as assigned - which may include training other employees.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and/or QUALIFICATIONS
- Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
- One to two years of experience in the broadband communication field preferred.
- Previous installation of customer premise equipment is desirable.
- Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive a vehicle with a manual shift in some assignments.
- Able to present technical information to a non-technical audience.
- Able to work independently.
- Able to accurately measure distances using tapes and other measuring devices.
- Able to use assigned test equipment including but not limited to signal level meter (SLM), volt OHM meter, underground locator and OTDR.
- Ability to use basic computer skills preferred, including internet and email.
- Able to accurately maintain records, logs, reports, work orders, etc.
- Able to operate office equipment, fax, copier, etc.
- Able to handle escalations and time-critical issues.
- Able to read street maps and construction prints.
- Able to work flexible hours as required, including evenings, weekends and on-call shifts.
- Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
