Who We Are:
Kid Power inspires youth leadership by promoting academic achievement, physical and emotional wellness, and positive civic engagement in underserved communities throughout the District of Columbia.
With a 1.0 M budget, we serve over 420 youth daily and reach over 1,000 youth annually with our after-school, summer, in-school programs, and community-based mentoring program. We are a small, passionate, collegial, and collaborative team driven by the work and impact we make every day.

Your Responsibilities:
Program Management, Oversight, and Evaluations
- Oversees all after-school and summer programming
- Conducts site visits at least 2-3 times a week to ensure program quality
- Oversees program enrollment, attendance, and online data tracking
- Ensures completion of student and staff surveys, assessments, and additional benchmarks
- Collects and analyzes program performance data
- Leads administrative and programmatic site visits with funders, donors, partners, and board members
- Assists with programmatic grant reporting and budgeting
- Finds creative ways to adjust programming to best fit the needs of students, as needed
- Practices, institutionalizes, and professionalizes the language of Youth Development
Program Staff Management and Volunteer Recruitment
- Provides overall structure and management of program frontline staff, including hiring/termination of staff
- Oversees training, onboarding, and professional development opportunities for program frontline staff
- Ensures staff complete necessary background checks and clearances
- Conducts weekly team meetings to maintain effective program operations
- Works with the team for appropriate volunteer recruitment, engagement, and retention strategies
External Partners
- Communicates regularly with DCPS administrators, after-school coordinators, and teachers to monitor student progress and programmatic goals
- Manages all existing program, staff, and volunteer partnerships with formal MOUs and regular communication
- Assists in communicating program impact to external stakeholders
- Serves as a key representative of Kid Power to all external school, program, community, and government partners in a way that best reflects the mission, professionalism, and values of the organization
Youth Issues
- Ensures the safety and well-being of youth participants on site
- Works with program team and DCPS administrators to address specific youth behavior issues, disciplinary action, or behavior plans
- Trains staff to implement behavior management and child abuse reporting systems
- Ensures that each student sets and tracks individual academic and behavioral goals
General Duties
- Attendance at occasional special events (family engagement nights, fundraisers) on nights or weekends
- Participates in staff meetings and collaborates on larger organizational management challenges and/or strategic decisions, as needed
- Upholds and adheres to Kid Power policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- University degree and at least four years of experience in youth development, preferred experience with DC Public Schools
- Ability to supervise and motivate staff
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
- Strong analytical and problem- solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Efficient time management and organizational skills
- Sound computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and familiarity with Google Drive
- Spanish proficiency a plus

Current work schedule consists of being in-person at our office locations 1-2 days per week, while working remote for the remainder of the work week.
