About the Role:
The Elementary Teacher plays a huge role in our school. This is because it is his/her job to help students find, develop, and strengthen the foundational skills that will help carry them through school and life. The Elementary Teacher is responsible for the development and implementation of lesson plans and best practices to teach students strong foundational learning skills. In addition, they will evaluate and teach Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, and 3rd Grade subject-specific curricula such as reading, writing, math, and science as listed in the TEA minimum standards and as it pertains to each student's learning needs. To achieve this, the Elementary Teacher must be able to observe, evaluate, teach, reteach, and supplement learning as needed. The Elementary Teacher must also be willing and able to model and teach good social development and problem-solving skills, as well as be open to working with students in all aspects of learning, including but not limited to, their mental, emotional, social, physical, and academic growth. The curriculum in this class is very hands-on. Online learning is only introduced or utilized once a student is ready to move on to the next class or as a tool.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the curriculum
- Provide a nurturing and stimulating classroom environment
- Assess students' progress and provide feedback to parents
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a positive learning experience
- Supervise and ensure the safety of students at all times
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
- Texas Teaching Certification (or in the process of obtaining)
- Minimum of two years of hands-on classroom experience
- Strong computer skills and can demonstrate proficiency in applied technology
- Strong classroom and behavior management skills
- Proficient in the English language (Spanish is a plus)
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Must have a high level of integrity regarding student records, employment records, and campus issues
- Be self-motivated and able to work under pressure, able to handle multiple tasks, and work collaboratively
- Demonstrate professionalism and strong organizational skills
- Be compassionate, energetic, adaptive, and flexible
