What are the responsibilities and job description for the After School Program Staff position at Kids & Paper?

Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned)

Must be available to work Monday-Friday 3:30-7:00 pm

1. Has experience or desire to work with elementary or middle school students.

2. Are comfortable learning behavior management strategies for working with groups of youth.

3. Has the ability to communicate well with students, staff, and parents.

4. Is comfortable encouraging, motivating and assisting students with homework.

5. Has experience supporting low-income students from culturally diverse backgrounds, preferred.

6. Ability to uphold privacy and confidentiality requirements.

7. Builds positive relationships with students as an adult role models and mentors.

8. Assists in development, preparation and implementation of enrichment activities and community building.

9. Actively works on a team to maintain a safe, healthy learning environment.

10. Collaborates with team members to improve program quality and student experience.

11. Supports site coordinator with record keeping and data collection.

12. Works with students individually, in small groups, and leads large group activities.

13. Manages student behaviors in all program areas (online, in-person, inside and outside).

14. Works in a noisy and crowded environment.

15. Assists in communications with families, including parent phone calls.

16. Attends professional development opportunities including those which may occur outside of typical work hours.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
