The Opportunity
Kids U is a growing Accredited Early Childhood Learning Institute in Calgary and Strathmore. For children aged zero to six, we offer best-in-class child care as well as preschool and kindergarten programs that build experiences and influence the development of executive functions. We are currently looking for On-Call Teachers that have strong interpersonal skills and find joy in working with children and adults. The ideal candidate will be committed to learning and teaching in emergent, project-based ways, lead by example for the children and ensure a positive and collaborative work environment with all teachers in the classroom.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Make a difference every day!
- Spark imagination, build self-esteem and help children discover new things each day.
- Guide children in self-motivated learning, helping stimulate their natural desire to learn.
- Encourage children through role modeling and guidance to respect themselves and others.
- Collaborate with classroom teams for planning and implementation of weekly lesson plans.
- Plan open ended activities with an emphasis on process orientation and developmentally appropriate curriculum with age-appropriate and individualized activities.
- Be responsible for reporting challenges, successes and competencies of each student to the Director or to parents on a regular basis.
- Supervise the classroom, helping the children to think creatively, to solve problems independently and respect themselves and others.
- Be responsible for ensuring an educational, caring and safe environment for the children.
- Assist children with self-care (i.e. dressing, diapering, feeding).
- Other duties as assigned by Lead Teachers and Program Supervisors.
What You Bring (Preferred Skills and Qualifications)
- A patient and empathetic attitude, with a passion for working with children.
- A reliable team player.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing work hours and environments.
- Minimum one year experience working with children
- Early Childhood Certification or related field.
- Reggio-inspired or Montessori experience is an asset.
- Current First Aid Certificate (may be obtained upon hire)
- Criminal Record Check, with Vulnerable Sector Check, within past 6 months (may be obtained upon hire)
