KidStrong Directors are the leaders of the center – it is the responsibility of the Director to foster a culture of learning and development for both their coaches and the families that attend the center. The Director is a high-energy, hyper organized, passionate, and engaging leader who is focused on defining goals and delivering an exceptional experience for the kids, families, and team members. The goals of the Director are to develop and train their coaching team, build the culture of the center through interacting with families and managing center operations, deliver amazing classes while providing an exceptional membership experience.
In this role you will ensure our centers are always clean, well maintained, and that all families who attend our programs receive world class customer service. This role has an eye for the details and is relentless when it comes to getting things done. As the Director you will assist in membership and scheduling system maintenance, lead facility maintenance projects through completion, act as an escalation point for client concerns, proactively manage retention of members and coaches, and support the culture of team members at all locations.
This is not the typical 9a-5p job – successful Directors will be in centers and available to families when they are available – mornings, evenings, and weekends. The Director will spend the majority of their time in centers but will also spend time in the community at events building brand awareness and partnering with Area Developer on strategies to maximize center performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
LEADERSHIP
- Continuously assess and document performance of Coaches.
- Achieve Director Certification through the HQ Training and Certification team.
- Set and communicate Coach schedules using appropriate scheduling and communication platforms.
- Build and maintain relationships with KidStrong families to align with our core values (Families do not leave KidStrong).
- Recruit, screen, interview, onboard, manage, train and evaluate coaching candidates.
- Monitor and ensure staffing levels are met while continually recruiting future talent.
- Ensure candidates complete all paperwork to be in compliance with company policy and law.
- Lead training practicals for new coaching candidates.
- Lead coaching candidates through the training process and required evaluations.
- Ensure coaching evaluations are up to date on a 30/60/90 model.
- Develop coaches through formal feedback sessions on a weekly basis.
- Attend monthly HQ programming rollout to learn ensuing month's programming.
- Lead team meetings as required and support center level initiatives i.e. center maintenance, training, brand consistency etc.
CENTER OPERATIONS
- Daily completion of administrative tasks including but not limited to: membership management, customer service inquiries, reporting of daily KPIs, and membership and retail billing.
- Ensure membership and scheduling systems are accurately maintained in order to provide a great customer experience.
- Work closely with Sales Manager and Area Developer on seamless process for observations, trials, and enrollments
- Find, schedule, and assist in the execution of community events.
- Lower member attrition through proactive customer service to meet or exceed company standards.
- Manage center level stock of inventory and supplies.
- Manage the expenses and overall profitability of centers.
- In-center time each week will include 4 week days and 1 weekend with specific hours based on the needs of the centers for approximately 50% or more of work week
- Basic understanding of the center’s financials in order to make informed and responsible business decisions.
- Oversee center level initiatives i.e. center maintenance, trainings, brand consistency etc.
- Daily, Weekly, and Monthly cleaning and maintenance of the center; quarterly support with upkeep of other centers in the KidStrong portfolio.
- Provide excellent customer service to families and handle their needs when in center.
- Manage center level employee issues and manage appropriate documentation
- Learn and manage your center’s KidStrong Camp - special classes held by centers when local schools are not operating (example: Winter Break, Summer Break).
COACHING
- Weekly meeting with leadership to assess and drive the overall portfolio performance and/or attending meetings and community events.
- Coach students by delivering an evolving curriculum that focuses on Brain, Physical, and Character development for age groups ranging from 15 months - 11 years-old approximately 3-5 hours, as well as emergency situations
- Create positive interactions with students and families before, during, and after class.
- Maintain dynamic, fun, motivational. and professional demeanor when leading class
- Achieve Coach Certification through the HQ Training and Certification team.
- Understand the “why” behind the KidStrong curriculum and be able to clearly and concisely communicate it.
- Demonstrate and manage the implementation of various programming and curriculum elements.
- Use the KS Coaches App to record data and provide data (attendance, awards, etc.).
- Communicate professionally with co-workers in Slack, including periodic checks of messages when not in centers.
- Must be able to ensure classes both start and end on schedule and follow the appropriate pace of curriculum.
- Must be able to work in a physically intensive environment - coaches may cover multiple miles in a shift moving through class, lift and repeatedly move equipment up to 25 pounds in weight.
- Must be comfortable physically working with kids to ensure proper technique and ensure student safety.
- Assisting parents of students, ages 3 and younger, with the direction and flow of a class.
- Complete training through LearnUpon as required by the HQ Training and Certification team.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Passion for working with children is non-negotiable
- Comfortable speaking to parents/guardians regarding variety of topics
- Prior experience as a pediatric OT/PT is a plus, but not required
- Previous experience in management is preferred but not required
- Practical work experience with Google and Microsoft platforms.
- Previous experience with systems and platforms such as ZenPlanner, Slack, LearnUpon, CareerPlug, ADP, and FranConnect is preferred but not required
- Prior experience speaking to and educating parents on KidStrong curriculum is preferred
- CPR certified
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position will supervise all Coaches and the Lead Coach.. The Director will be a leader and mentor so communication and interpersonal skills are important.
Sphere of Interaction
The Director will work closely with center team members and families. This position will also interact with leadership team members.
