What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Trainer position at Kinder Morgan?
The Maintenance Trainer assists the Maintenance Manager and the Training Coordinator and/or supervisors with the organization, development and implementation of the operations training program for Maintenance technicians.
- Under supervisory guidance, develops, implements, updates and/or coordinates operations training for all Procedures and EDC's.
- As assigned, coordinate training sessions for instructors, conduct classroom training, and/ or conduct/monitor computer based training.
- Interact with employees at all levels (including technical working groups) as necessary, to review, discuss and resolve procedural questions, training gaps and/or inadequacies. Coordinate and facilitate field training.
- Maintains and provides documentation of completed employee training and ensures the information is added to the training database and DOT (U. S. Department of Transportation) and/or other federal or state agency required records as applicable.
- Reviews and recommends updates of the various maintenance procedures including those required by regulatory agencies, Kinder Morgan and its customers. Prepare for and participate in internal/regulatory audits. Assists with the training and implementation of corrective actions.
- Conducts field walk throughs and training with hands on job experience.
- Development and implementation of Site Specific Procedures as well as the Tier Level testing and new hire testing.
- Conducts Specialized training programs (Crane, boom and forklifts etc.)
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office package and must be able to use or quickly learn to use and apply other relevant computer systems.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable by the company's insurance carrier
- Must be able to obtain specialized training certificates (Forklift, Crane and Trackmobile)
- Ability to communicate clearly and understandable verbally and in writing in English, using good business grammar.
- Ability to read, in English, and understand technical and non-technical material from various sources, make or recommend changes in procedures, and modify or develop training to implement the changes in procedures
- Ability to deliver group training in organized classroom presentations and one-on-one situations, using effective public speaking skills, effective use of visual and other training aids, and ability to teach technical subject matter to non-technical employees.
- Ability to organize work and handle multiple tasks and assignments while meeting deadlines
- Effective listening skills and ability to answer questions succinctly and understandably
- Ability to perform independently with general supervisor guidance
- Ability to accept supervision and direction as needed
- Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to work with others, take direction from supervisor(s), focus attention on details, and follow work rules
- Able to work outdoors in all types of weather environments.
- Must be able to use Kinder Morgan required PPE, such as hard hat, safety glasses, FRC clothing, gloves, and steel toe work boots.
- Must be able to work in environments that include chemicals, acids, and petroleum products and be around vapors with respiratory protection.
Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge in one or more of the following fields:
- Pump repair, installation and maintenance
- Valve repair, installation and maintenance
- Electrical power distribution repair, installation and maintenance
- Motor control repair, installation and maintenance.
- Industrial instrumentation repair, installation and maintenance

Salary : $64,800 - $82,000
