Position Description:
Responsible for the operation and maintenance of pipelines, compressor stations including all auxiliary equipment, engines, turbines, motors, cooling equipment, valves and other related equipment as required.
Start, stop and operate engines/pumps within defined operating parameters.
Ensure the cost effective and efficient performance of all engines, pumps and associated equipment at compressor stations, and pipelines.
Install, repair, service and maintain all equipment and facilities related to the operation and maintenance of pipelines and compressor stations.
Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment, including pipeline right-of-way including but not limited to excavating, repairing, coating and backfilling pipelines, concrete work, painting, building erection, weed control, etc.
Maintain, adjust, make minor repairs, and operate equipment (e.g., industrial wheeled tractors, water pumps, air compressors, expanders, coolers, test equipment, vehicles, etc.)
Represent the company during contacts with landowner/tenants, public officials/emergency officials and at local meetings. (One Call, Pipeline Groups, Soil Conservation, USFS, etc.)
Oversee construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties.
Train and oversee company and third-party personnel as required (e.g., personnel in progression, transport drivers, contractors, and visitors)
Perform governmental compliance activities (DOT, State Agencies, EPA, USFS, etc.)
Perform minor electrical maintenance.
Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns.
Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives. Participate in the development of O&M Procedures, Site Specific Procedures, project scopes and work plans. Complete all applicable documentation and record keeping. Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, regulatory, and company tariff requirements. Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.
Mandatory drug screen and background check upon hire.
May be required to have or be able to obtain a CDL
Must be able to answer call outs, work overtime and carry a company provided communication device as needed.
Perform other duties as requested.
Position Requirements
Achieve and maintain all OQ qualifications and progression requirements applicable to the job classification.
Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work with a minimum of supervision.
Basic computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, various operating systems, and other company software).
Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
Ability to work in a team environment, take direction from supervisors, keep required job schedules, focus on details, and follow work rules.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively work with customers, suppliers, other operations groups, engineering staff, and management.
Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives.
Mentor fellow employees when the opportunity presents itself.
Required to perform on-call and call out duties to maintain system integrity, acceptable facility run time and emergency response after regular business hours which may require carrying a communication device.
Pipeline construction and inspection experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
Overtime may be required and is anticipated.
Work schedule may vary seasonally to accommodate business needs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must meet physical requirements, including, but not limited to:
Consistently lifting / carrying and pulling / pushing weights / forces up to 60 pounds
Gripping forces of up to 80 pounds
Routine walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending and squatting, climbing up / down ladders and stairs, standing, sitting, and negotiating uneven and moving surfaces
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Detailed knowledge of compressor and transmission pipeline systems operations.
Knowledge of operating costs and best practices associated with natural gas pipeline equipment.
Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, P&IDs, and other diagrams.
Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases and liquids on high-pressure systems.
